WordPlay Cincy is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to create spaces for young people to fulfill their potential by discovering, honoring and sharing their voices. Nestled in Cincinnati you'll find claw-footed bathtubs filled with pillows inviting young readers & writers into a world of imagination. High schoolers reflect on current events, favorite books & LIFE, crafting spoken word pieces for citywide performance.

What’s up, Storytellers?!

We’re still buzzing from the energy of our recent typewriter event with at WordPlay. The parking lot felt warm, intentional, and full of stories.

From the sound of keys hitting paper to the conversations in between, there was so much soul in the air.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared space, and poured into the moment. Your support and your generosity helped us raise funds for our upcoming summer programming, and that means everything to us.

Meet .malan — a poet, author, creative force, and pure explosive energy. After attending our Teaching Artist training, Makiah has been bringing WordPlay to life by building programs and hosting her own open mic nights at WordPlay Cincy. Attend her next event March 21st, starting at 5pm.

What’s up Storytellers?! We just want to extend our Gratitude to .malan for hosting a wonderful poetry open mic over here . It was beautiful to see and hear so many stories in our building last night. We also loved to see the collective contributing to our community art wall. What’s up Storytellers?! We have exciting News!
( Desirae Hosley ) is now the new Executive Director over here !
Desirae has laid the foundation for wordplay programming over the years and we are excited to have her guide us with her wisdom of the arts and co created youth spaces to tell their stories! She will be Co-Directing the space with our Director of Narrative and Storytelling ! Who has also played a key role building wordplay programming ! We are excited to be on this journey with you all ! Let’s create magic together!
