“There is no description, no image in any book that is capable of replacing the sight of real trees, and all the life to be found around them, in a real forest. Something emanates from those trees which speaks to the soul, something no book, no museum is capable of giving." - Dr. Maria Montessori

Members of Mercy's Hiking Club, led by Upper Elementary teacher, Steve Hartman, enjoyed a beautiful weekend hike at the Natural Bridge State Park in Red River Gorge.

I'll tell you what freedom is to me: no fear."

Freedom Dreaming is not just for Fridays, but every day of the week.

Working with Mercy Montessori's Lower Elementary Division, we dreamed of all of the ways our world can be FREE. We use the power of reimagination to create a world where we all can belong and thrive.

In reviewing their dreams of a free world, I can't help but be reminded that we do not ask our children enough about the world with which they wish to live and co-create.

Now more than ever, as children rely on us to make decisions that see the humanity in all of us, not the few, I ask you to reimagine our world. In a Free world, who is included? Who is embraced? Who is left out? Who is locked out? Who is respected? Who is uplifted? Who do we listen to? What gets created?

What does it mean to be in a world where we bring these dreams to life?

Have you done any Freedom Dreaming today? Share a Freedom Dream you have below.

10 Freedom Dreams from Mercy Kids:
“I dream of a world where everyone has a home.”
“I dream of a world that creates dresses and joy.”
“I dream of a world that listens to God.”
“I dream of a world that respects women.”
“I dream of a world that listens to us.”
“I dream of a world that uplifts the Taco Bell and Chipotle employees.”
“I dream of a world with little bits of me and my dad dancing!”
“I dream of a world that uplifts me.”
“I dream of a world that creates love. “
“I dream of a world that has no racism, war, or world hunger.”

Bonus:
“I dream of a world that listens to the truth.”

As we enter Black History Month, let's unite in celebration and recognition of the significant contributions made by the African American community. We celebrate Black History Month to honor the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black individuals throughout history. It's a time to recognize their impact on culture, civil rights, sciences, arts, and every aspect of society, fostering understanding and appreciation for the richness of Black heritage. Consider incorporating relevant themes into your family activities, discussions, or events to promote awareness and appreciation.
