Last week, we celebrated 10 years of partnership with Scholastic at their headquarters in New York City.

Through our sponsored book fairs, Scholastic has helped us distribute nearly 2 million books to underserved students in Title I schools as part of our “If You Give a Child a Book …” initiative, funded by our generous donors.

A huge thank-you to the Scholastic team for helping us fulfill our mission of championing childhood literacy and opening the hearts and minds of young readers … one book at a time!

We’re excited to be part of the 101st Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.!

The competition starts Tuesday, but we’ve been buzzy hosting a Scholastic book fair for the participants and their families while also raising awareness for the “If You Give a Child a Book …” campaign.

At the Scripps Howard Fund, we believe GREAT READERS MAKE GREAT SPELLERS, and every child deserves new books for their in-home libraries.

📚💙 Big thanks to our Scripps Howard Fund board members for volunteering Wednesday at the “If You Give a Child a Book …” book fair at Bond Hill Academy in Cincinnati!

They spent time helping students choose and check out their five free books — sparking joy, curiosity and a lifelong love of reading.

Our “If You Give a Child a Book …” program has given almost 2 million books to under-resourced children, but that wouldn’t have been possible without generous donors like Bill.

“Books have always been a treasure for me,” said Bill, who volunteered at a book fair in Nashville this spring. “I saw the ‘If You Give a Child a Book …’ program as a way to share that love with others. Seeing how eager and proud the children were to have their new books made me overflow with joy.”
