Den meetings are underway! Our AOL Den started learning about the Patrol Method and chose their name (Acorn Bombers!) Our Bears and Webelos worked on some knots, and our Tigers enjoyed flying some planes at the end of their meeting.

Our Lions, while learning to appreciate nature, learned how bird p**p helps spread plant seeds! No pictures, thankfully.

We had an adventure at Stanbury Park as we hit up a trail loop. we went downhill, we went uphill. We went over trees, we went under trees. We crossed bridges. We forded a creek (twice!) but unlike the Oregon Trail game, no one died! :)

Look up in the night sky tonight (Friday)!
at around 08:32 PM EDT the International Space Station should be flying over Cincinnati. It will travel from West/Southwest to Northeast for 7 minutes and will peak at 56 degrees in the sky (a fist at arms length at the horizon is about 10 degrees)

It's moving fast, but should appear as a solid dot moving across the sky.

SCOUT • YOUNGEST FIRST RESPONDER • 9/11 HERO
𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗺𝗮𝗻 — 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝟭𝟬𝟲 (𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟯–𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟭)
On the morning of September 11, 2001, 18-year-old Richard Allen Pearlman was working for a law office in Queens when he was sent to 1 Police Plaza in Manhattan to deliver documents. While there, he learned that the first plane had struck the World Trade Center.
Richard was told to return to work. Instead, he went toward the towers.
A volunteer with the Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps since age 14, Richard had already devoted years to learning emergency response. He began in the Junior Corps, became a dispatcher, and at 18 joined the Senior Corps, where he was preparing for EMT training.
At Ground Zero, Richard immediately put his experience to work, treating people who had been injured and burned. Richard was last seen entering the South Tower, where he was helping a man suffering cardiac arrest. At 9:59 a.m., the tower collapsed.
At just 18 years old, Richard was the youngest first responder killed on 9/11.
His courage has inspired an enduring legacy. In 2016, the Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the NYC Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club established the “Run for Richie” 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Parade in his honor. What began as a memorial ride has grown into a major annual event, attracting thousands of motorcycles in some years.
Richard once told his mother, “I’m going to be a famous person one day. I’m going to help save the world.”
On September 11, he went toward the danger when others were fleeing.
Assistant Scoutmaster Richard Pearlman was posthumously awarded the Honor Medal with Crossed Palms, Scouting’s highest recognition for heroism.
From Queens Troop 106 to Ground Zero, Richard Pearlman’s life was tragically brief—but his courage, compassion, and commitment to helping others remain an enduring legacy.
