As a teenager, Gyp Banks was searching for stability and direction. Through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati, he was matched with his mentor, David, who helped him find both.

Together, they attended sporting and arts events through MVK, experiences that reinforced a lesson Gyp now shares often: exposure matters. When young people are given the chance to see more of the world, they begin to see more for themselves.

Today, Gyp is a Workforce Development Coordinator with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati, a mentor to local teens, and a student at the University of Cincinnati pursuing a degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology. His long-term goal is to become a therapist, helping young people navigate some of life's most challenging seasons.

His leadership, service, and commitment to helping others recently earned him one of MVK's Student Impact Awards at our 20th Anniversary Celebration, providing additional support as he continues pursuing his goals.

Watch Gyp's story and see the lasting impact of mentorship, opportunity, and someone believing in your potential.

Even as a young kid, Enyjah carried responsibilities far beyond her years. Through MVK's Girls with Pearls program, she found mentorship, encouragement, and a community that helped her grow into the remarkable young woman she is today.

Today, Enyjah is a Neuropsychology Pre-Med major at the University of Cincinnati, pursuing her dream of making a difference in the lives of others.

Her resilience, determination, and commitment to her future recently earned her one of MVK's Student Impact Awards at our 20th Anniversary Celebration. Enyjah was awarded a transformative support package that includes one year of on-campus housing, personalized mentorship, assistance with financial planning and savings, and career guidance designed to help her thrive during her college journey.

Watch her story and see the impact that happens when young people are given the support, opportunities, and belief they deserve.

Thank you Broadway in Cincinnati for the tickets to Water for Elephants! We just got the most AMAZING thank you note, had to share it:

"Thank you so much for the generous tickets and for creating such meaningful opportunities for families like mine.

Water for Elephants was a magnificent show. It was a great experience that brought life full circle for my son and I. As I was sitting in my seat, I was reminded of the last time I saw a circus performance with my mother before she passed away.

The performance also put some things into perspective for me as an educator. When they were talking to the elephant in a language that she didn’t understand, it created a minor misunderstanding. Sometimes with my students, this can occur although we both speak English. There are words that I am using that, no fault of their own, they are unfamiliar with.

Then there is this quote, “When a man hates who he sees in the mirror, he begins to hate the whole world,” which I will hang in my classroom and turn into a mini SEL lesson.

MVK—your work is needed throughout the city and surrounding neighborhoods. I hope that other parents and schools are taking advantage of the opportunities that your organization provides. I am truly grateful and thankful!"

So much fun being VIP’s at Cincinnati Cyclones games this season! Thanks to our partners at the Cyclones and generous donors like Robert Jones Plumbing, we sent 300+ students/chaperones to hockey games this season.

Kids participated in pre-game activities with coaches, gave Rally Alley high fives in the tunnel before the games and enjoyed the suite life, with food.
