Project Connect Cincinnati Project Connect collaborates with schools and stakeholders to identify & remove educational barriers for CPS students & families experiencing homelessness.

The program implements creative solutions by providing advocacy, awareness, connecting & enrichment School age children are one of the fastest-growing segments of the homeless population in America. Homelessness has a devastating impact on a child’s physical safety and health, mental well-being and academic progress. In an average year, the National Center on Family Homelessness reports that 97 percent of homeless students will move at least once; Education Department mobility research suggests it takes four to six months for a student to recover academically from each move. Project Connect, part of the Cincinnati City Schools, operates under the McKinney-Vento Act federal legislation supporting the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness. The Act guarantees homeless students immediate access to the free, appropriate public education to which they are entitled. Project Connect provides advocacy paired with specialized educational services and lifestyle enrichment opportunities for children and youth.

Today was a really special day for Project Connect. ❤️

One of our Project Connect parents moved into a home of her own today after spending nearly a month sleeping in her vehicle with her children at the Project Connect Safe Sleep Lot.

Her family came to us after being displaced from housing because of a rat infestation that their landlord failed to address. During her time at the Safe Sleep Lot, she became such a positive part of the community that has formed there, and today we had the privilege of watching her family take the next step into safe, stable housing.

This is exactly why the Safe Sleep Lot exists.

It was never intended to be the destination. It is a safe place to sleep, a place to regroup, connect to resources and remain connected to school while families work toward what comes next.

It is a bridge, not the end goal.

Today, one family crossed that bridge. And we couldn’t be happier for them. ❤️

Partnership Makes a Difference! đź’™
Project Connect is incredibly grateful to Duke Energy for their generous donation of high-quality sheets, pillows, and towels for families residing in the CPS Safe Sleep Lot.
For families experiencing housing instability, having a safe place to sleep is essential, but so is being welcomed with comfort, care, and dignity. These thoughtful donations will help make the Safe Sleep Lot a more comfortable and supportive space for families during an incredibly challenging time.
We deeply appreciate Duke Energy for investing in our families, helping us improve their experience, and demonstrating what meaningful community partnership looks like.
Thank you, Duke Energy, for helping us ensure that every family we serve is treated with the dignity and care they deserve. đź’™

What better way to wrap up an incredible six weeks than with a celebration!

Our Project Connect students wowed us with an unforgettable performance before enjoying an amazing end-of-summer celebration hosted by our amazing partners at BNI. From bounce houses, circus games, and a dunk tank to a DJ, Kona Ice, and so much laughter, it was the perfect way to celebrate all they accomplished this summer.

Summer is our favorite time of year, and we are already looking forward to welcoming these incredible students back next summer!

Project Connect staff and students had a great time today on the B & B Riverboat. Many of our students had never been on a boat and though this was new and scary, they had an amazing time! We are so appreciative of all of our partners who make days like this possible.
