I told the ladies who taught me I was going to change the world. That there are places on this world where people live on landfills and that needed to know they are walking on and around such a useful tool. I didn't want to send them mats, I wanted to teach them the skill so they can make useful things and sell at the market, just like me. I could not travel without my kids and I am not ready to travel to places afar WITH them. I don't need to. Here are lovely ladies in Haiti who learned from a beautiful soul who came to my first library event. it was an honor to teach her so that she could teach them. When we all work together we can do amazing things.....

These are the women that taught me how to do this. I am forever grateful for them. there's the one that came to my store the first time asking for bags. The one that came and collected the bags while I grew passionate about learning. And the one that learned how to crochet left handed just so she could teach me. I am forever grateful for these women. they are so proud of me for where I'm taking it. I'm doing exactly where I told him I was going to that first time i saw them do it and that was to teach the world how to do this and help as many people as I can while doing it.

In case you all miss my smiling face and in case you really want to pass it on.

A little over a year ago, I started a hobby. Having never crocheted before, I learned how to in order to turn grocery bags into an amazing thing called Plarn, plastic yarn. I was taught to make mats for the homeless. From the moment I sat at the table to learn this skill from some fantastic la...

This was made for a sweet girl that is staying under a bridge. I made them an organizer to keep things off the ground and dry that can be placed on anything. I love how it turned out. I am making a set of cushions for their milk crate seats and pillows. I love getting to know people and making things to help their lives a tad easier.

I wanted to clear up any possible confusion between this page and the page for my sales. when I first started doing this I always imagined that this would be a cause or a project. I have no desire to make mllions. I have no desire to go to a tv show. in fact, they would kind of hate me because I give away a lot more stuff than I sell. What selling the items is doing is allowing me to start this project and be able to do it full-time (24 hours really). although, I admit I'm an almost starving artist, but just for now. What I loved about the flea market was that it reminded me of a carny lifestyle simply because of a lot of the vendors were Travellers. What I didn't love was that I was inside and committed to it every weekend. that's just not for me. Also, one market of people just isn't for me either. So what you're going to do with this page is you're going to be able to follow me and see where I may be that day. Or what the status is on my some day nonprofit. When i am posting a location, it might be something scheduled. it might be something where I post and say here's where I'm at. As you can see I'm like your traveling salesman. I open my van and I have everything. so every place I go I can set up or people me ask questions. Just ask my shy kids, they sure are troopers. Of course people are supporting the project getting a gift for their monetary donation I'm not necessarily selling things there. Wink. Wink. If you see I'm at an event please come and say hi to me. it could be that you just want to check out what I've got. It could be that you want to slap me across the face because of how much you've heard about this crazy project that this crazy bag lady is starting. feel free to come slap me in the face if you have to. I'm strong I can handle it. then I'm going to show you what I make and where i am taking this. you're going to get so excited too, you're going to feel really really bad for slapping me in the face and then we're going to hug it out. I'm going to forgive you and you're going to squeal in delight looking at all the fun stuff I make and you're going to understand why I'm so passionate about this and why I want to make it happen. so keep paying attention and keep checking this page out. Just bear with me it might be either way too much or not enough but I'll figure it out as I have fun because I'm doing this all while making things AND making it happen. thanks all!!!

So what in the world is PLUR or plarn for that matter? Well, as an oldish rave girl turned boring momma out to save the world with bags....I have always believed the raver principle. PLUR PeaceLoveUnityRespect seen visually at festivals where you see many flags of nations. Those 'sworn enemies' are dancing together in PLUR. It always moved me through the years and immediately made sense and seemed fitting as I started this journey playing with plastic yarn, Plarn.
