Here’s a completely edible arrangement from our Communications Coordinator. There’s some really beautiful produce growing in Ohio right now: carrots, kale, sprouting broccoli, garlic scapes, tomatoes, grapes, nasturtiums, marigolds, and violas. Tomatoes and grapes aren’t typically harvested until much later in the summer, but some farms get them sooner with greenhouses.
Fun fact: all the flowers in this arrangement are edible! Nasturtiums taste peppery and go well on a salad. Marigolds taste citrusy and herby and are great in teas. Violas taste a bit like sweeter lettuce, and go well in salads or as a decoration for desserts and drinks.
You can purchase everything (except violas and marigolds) with SNAP/EBT. At participating farmers’ markets, get a $1 for $1 match to spend on more fruits and vegetables! Visit ProducePERKS.org/locations to find a participating market near you.
