There’s a lot of “weird” and wonderful produce out there at farmers’ markets, farm stands, and smaller local grocery stores that you might not see at larger grocery stores. Patty pan squash and kohlrabi are two funky pieces of produce that look a bit like an alien and UFO. They’re in season in Ohio from July-September. Patty pan tastes like a slightly buttery zucchini, but keeps a denser consistency when it’s cooked. Kohlrabi is crisp and mild and almost sweet, like a mix between broccoli and a turnip. Try some before they fly out of season!
