On Friday, January 10, Fredric and Julie Holzberger, founders and owners of the Aveda Frederic Institute in West Chester, OH were gracious enough to host my class of five 7th grade young ladies from St. Francis Seraph School in Cincinnati…very cool.

The 25 St. Joseph's students in the Goals For Life program enjoyed a private tour of Paul Brown Stadium yesterday, presented by tour guide without equal, Terry Wallace and supported by the generosity of Contech and LaRosa's. The boys had an awesome time, diving into the end zone, trying to kick an extra point (emphasis on trying) and making some great circus catches from St. Joseph's Dean, Eric Wilcher and former Bengal and GFL Instructor, David Fulcher.

Then we went to the gym for our delicious pizza lunch, and when a couple of players showed up during our lunch, we thought it couldn't get any better. And then Coach Marvin Lewis came in, and the boys went nuts! How cool was that!!

Much thanks to Jeff Berding and Teri Moratschek from the Bengals, and Gayle Wright from LaRosa's. The boys loved the t-shirts and caps, so much love goes out to Ron Keating and Melissa McDonald from Contech. And of course kudos to Tracy Laycock from Munoz Brandz for the t-shirt and cap design and timely production.

Thank you also to Mark Grimme, our biggest supporter, volunteer, and most excellent photographer, for being my friend.

It was a great day…it didn't even rain. The best part is we get to do it again next week with our boys from Resurrection.

I'm going to the Rec Center now, to sit in the jacuzzi…

In case you haven't heard, Goals For Life is a very cool non-profit program. We've been around almost 25 years in the Los Angeles area, and now we're expanding. Our first expansion effort is taking place as we speak in Cincinnati.

Goals For Life employs former NFL players as instructors of a Life Skills curriculum that we teach to at-risk youth (minority boys predominantly) in the inner city, low performing elementary and middle schools. And it is a gas! I was the oldest son of 5 boys, I raised two boys of my own, and now I am blessed to continue His calling because I get to be a father to the fatherless.

We currently have two active schools in Cincinnati, and plan to have two more by the end of February...Lord willing. Check us out at http://www.goalsforlife.net/cincinnati.html and if you are philanthropic with a heart for kids, send us a donation of any size.

In Service,
Marvin Cobb
Goals For Life Midwest Program Director

Successful “win-win” youth development program, Goals For Life announces initial plans to expand into NFL cities, beginning with Cincinnati.
