We had an amazing Monday morning with an imaginary trip to the Caribbean! Our members were so impressed with the Elder Band: The Spirit of Elder Steel Drum Band. The talented students, from both Elder and Seton High Schools, traveled to the Eastside, giving up their summer free time to play for us. It was interesting to hear the different drums and learn how they were made. It was a memorable performance! Check out the videos in the comment section.

After the concert and a cookout lunch, about 140 members were treated to a snow-cone from Kona Ice to continue the “island vibe.” Perfect for a hot day!

If you’d like to attend fun parties, we’d love to have you join us! Stop by for a tour and more information, or call us at 513-474-3100.

We’ll be traveling to the Caribbean on Monday when the Elder High School Steel Drum Band brings island music to our center for the June Birthday Party! Lunch reservations are closed, but bring your own lunch and enjoy the music. Wear your favorite tropical shirt to add to the vibe- or wear purple to welcome the Elder students!

This week we’ll also have a presentation from our own Anderson Township Fire and Rescue on fire safety for seniors. Dave Ridenour will be at ATSC with guitar and vocals. And- our 25 regularly scheduled activities! The complete schedule for the week is included below.

Not a member? Stop by for a tour and information. We’d love to see you at the center!

The game didn’t have the final score we hoped for, but we still had a great time! Thirty-six members enjoyed the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame, the all-you-can-eat food stations at the Champions Club, and excellent seats to watch the game. A few members said they don’t drive downtown anymore, so coming to a game with us is a real treat! It was a fun day for everyone!

Thank you, Meals on Wheels Southwest OH & Northern KY for outstanding transportation services. The drivers really cared for our members!

We had a huge crowd, as always, to hear historian Diane Shields discuss the causes of and the major battles in the Revolutionary War. She is an expert storyteller and a member favorite. This fascinating program was a part of our America 250 celebration. Diane will be back in July to talk about the Founding Fathers.

Our first experience with the Anderson Township Garden Tour was a success! Thanks to our members who volunteered their time to give garden tours, pass out information about the senior center and serve lemonade to our guests. About 50 people came to see our herb, vegetable, and pollinator gardens, which are planned, planted and maintained by our Garden Club. It was a fun day for all!

Thank you so much to Leaf to Ash Cigar Lounge for the very generous donation to our center! Both of Chet and Suzi King’s parents have attended the Anderson Township Senior Center. The Kings save empty cigar boxes and sell them for $2 to crafters and collectors. The Anderson Township Fire and Rescue Department has also received a donation from the Kings. Thank you for supporting our center and our community!

What a day! The Hamilton County 513Relief Bus and twelve social service agencies were visited by well over two hundred guests at our center today. Medical screenings and information tables provided individual support for health care, veterans benefits, utility bills, vision supports, and much more. We were flexible with the weather, fit everyone in our center, and had a productive and enjoyable day. Thank you to all participants!
