Bavarian Beneficial Society The Society was established in 1875 as a fraternal benefits order to help take care of their families.

The Society is open to both Men and Women today but the purpose has not changed, We also works to preserve German language and customs.

BAYERISCHER UNTERSTÜTZUNGS-VEREIN (a.k.a. Bavarian Beneficial Society, BUV) was founded on October 1, 1875. Immigrants from Bavaria formed this club to "support members in sickness and their survivors in case of death" as well as to "further the German language, customs and to hold social get-togethers". 68 ratified a constitution, became members and installed a board with officers on October 15, 1875. The BUV was later incorporated as the 203rd non-profit in the State of Ohio on July 20, 1883. The Bavarian Beneficial Society is one of the longest continuously operating nonprofit corporations in the State of Ohio.

We celebrate our 150th year starting on October 1, 2025. Over the coming year, we will share stories of our history and current status.
