Working Families' Movement of Northside All of these rights spell security.

The Working Families Movement of Northside is a grass roots organization of working families and allies coming together to organize the Northside neighborhood for economic, political and social democracy. We support FDR's "Economic Bill of Rights", as excerpted from President Roosevelt's January 11, 1944 message to the Congress of the United States on the State of the Union:

In our day these econ

omic truths have become accepted as self-evident. We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all—regardless of station, race, or creed. Among these are:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being. America’s own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for our citizens.

Dear Gov. Kasich,
This is how WE, normal, hard-working Ohioans feel about your anti-worker and union, voter suppression, budget cutting and job destroying policies. You were elected by the People...now listen to the People!

McKie and all 19 pools are saved! Soapbox: "Could this suggest a new way of getting things done in Cincinnati? In a city notorious for taking its time to take action on large projects does the combination of good-faith fundraising and a citywide community voice improve the odds of enacting change? And if so, is this a new tool for community members wanting to make the city a better place to live?". We think so.

Cincinnati's pools will open this summer thanks to a city-neighborhood partnership that combined grass roots fundraising with community activism and governmental transparency.

Saving the McKie Pool was our first project for the families of Northside. It was a great success! Due to great teamwork, we:

1) Held a wonderfully successful party with over 150 residents, 4 groups of artists, voter registration, food and more!
2) Delivered to both City Council member Wendell Young and CRC the 600+ signatures we collected.
3) Raised a respectable $2000 towards saving the pool.

McKie pool on Chase Avenue is one of the 19 pools slated to remain closed this summer, unless residents can raise $45,000.
