TODAY IS THE DAY! ROOTS 🌳

Every voice has a story. Every story has roots.

Through the power of music, ROOTS celebrates where we come from, the people who have helped us grow, and the beautiful ways our stories intertwine.

Because our roots are more than where we began. They are the foundation of who we are becoming. 🌱

🌍 Roots is just THREE days away! 🌍

This Tuesday, YPCC is turning the spotlight inward to celebrate the heritage, languages, and traditions our singers bring with them from every corner of the world.

Come travel the globe with us through songs in Polish, German, Yiddish, and Spanish (yes, De Colores and Verde Luz!), a Bollywood detour with Ek Do Teen, the Celtic favorite Wild Mountain Thyme, gentle lullabies, and American roots classics like Will the Circle Be Unbroken. Between songs, our singers will share the personal stories behind the music: the traditions they inherited, the journeys they took, and the moments that made them who they are.

🗓️ Tuesday, October 20 | 7:30 PM
📍 Memorial Hall OTR, 1225 Elm St., Cincinnati

Bring someone you love and feel at home in a room full of stories. 💛

🎶 We're almost there!

Thanks to this community, YPCC's Season 15 Giving Campaign has raised $2,290 of our $3,000 goal; that's over three-quarters of the way to making sure choral music stays open to anyone who wants to sing! No audition required, no barriers, just voices coming together.

We have $710 left to raise, and until October 20 to get there.

Every gift, big or small, helps cover rehearsal space, music, and the everyday costs of keeping this community singing. And because we fundraise through Zeffy, 100% of what you give goes straight to that mission.

If choral music, or the idea of a place where anyone can just show up and sing, has ever meant something to you, this is the moment to help us close the gap. 💛

🎶 Rehearsals are underway for our Fall Cycle and we just kicked things off with 120+ singers in the room! 🎶

This cycle, we're preparing Roots: A Celebration of Where We Come From, a concert that turns the spotlight on our singers themselves, their heritage, their languages, their lullabies, their stories. From folk songs sung in living rooms across continents to new music about carrying two homes in one heart, Roots is YPCC at its most human.

The energy in the room last night said it all. And there's still time to be part of it! Registration is open now at ypccsing.org/sing. Come add your story to ours. 🌍🎤

We're sitting down with Assistant Artistic Director Katie Personke and Managing Artistic Director Dr. Matthew Moquin-Lee to talk about what's next for YPCC; new programs, deeper community engagement, and bold new performances that celebrate diversity, individual stories, and the power of making music together.

From classrooms to community partnerships across Cincinnati, Katie and Matt bring a shared belief that choral music isn't just something we perform, it's something that connects us.
