Prospect House is a residential treatment and recovery center for alcoholic and chemically dependent men who are without the money, insurance or other resources to enter hospital-based programs. Prospect House furnishes the necessities of life to these men while they actively seek a new way of life marked by sobriety and self-support. We are on Hawthorne Avenue in Price Hill (Cincinnati, OH). Duri

ng our 39+ years, more than 6,200 men have been served. Before a man is accepted by the Prospect House he must agree to at least a 90-day residential stay. Based on the House's experience, 90 days is the minimum it takes to achieve some sort of sobriety and to start making the changes which will lead to maintaining sobriety in the years ahead. On average residents live at Prospect House for nearly six months.

Behind every recovery milestone is a person working toward a healthier, more stable future.

At Prospect House, approximately 70% of residents who successfully complete our program continue in long-term sobriety. This reflects the commitment, resilience, and support that long-term recovery requires.

But recovery is about more than statistics. It is about:

🔹Rebuilding self-respect
🔹Reconnecting with family and community
🔹Finding stability and purpose
🔹Creating a meaningful life beyond addiction

Since 1970, Prospect House has remained committed to helping men access compassionate, structured recovery support regardless of financial circumstances.

Thank you to the donors, referral partners, alumni, families, and community members who continue making this work possible.

Recovery is not a quick process, and no one should have to walk through it alone.

At Prospect House, we provide long-term abstinence-based men's residential treatment designed to support lasting recovery through structure, counseling, community, and continued encouragement. Many residents stay six months or longer as they work to rebuild stability, self-respect, and hope for the future.

Long-term recovery often requires:

🔹Safe and stable housing
🔹Consistent counseling and peer support
🔹Time to rebuild healthy routines and relationships
🔹A supportive community that believes change is possible

Your support helps make that healing environment possible for men throughout the Cincinnati community.

Access to support can change the course of someone’s life.

Prospect House is proud to participate in the One-Stop community resource event on August 28th at the College Hill Recreation Center, helping connect individuals and families with recovery support, reentry resources, housing assistance, mental health services, and other essential community programs.

These events are an important reminder that recovery and stability grow stronger when communities work together to make support more accessible.

We are grateful for the opportunity to continue serving alongside organizations committed to helping people move forward with dignity, hope, and encouragement.

Support is most meaningful when people can access it during moments of transition and uncertainty.

Prospect House is proud to participate in the July One-Stop event on July 31 at the Hamilton County Justice Center alongside community partners working to connect individuals leaving incarceration with recovery resources, housing support, mental health services, employment assistance, and more. The event is sponsored by the Hamilton County Office of Reentry.

Recovery and stability are strengthened through collaboration, compassion, and community care. Events like One-Stop help ensure that people know they are not alone as they work to rebuild their lives. Programs like Prospect House's "Life after bars" group help our residential clients reintegrate into society and deal with issues of their incarceration history.

We are grateful to partner with organizations across Hamilton County that are committed to reducing barriers and expanding access to support.

Everyone deserves access to support, resources, and the opportunity to move forward.

At the Prospect House, we are a community connected to the larger community to provide our clients with medical, psychiatric, dental, and vocational services in cooperation with our community partners. In-house we provide structure and fellowship with men that share a common goal and pathway, men with a variety of lengths of sobriety from days to decades. We provide specialized group and individual counseling, case management, the support of peers on the same path of abstinence-based recovery, and transportation to outside services.

Reintegration into society and outside responsibilities is achieved at a metered pace to support clients with the challenges that come with adjusting to a new way of life. Clients who are working toward success in our program are not discharged at an arbitrary date, but stay until they are ready to move into the larger recovery community. A ninety day commitment is a minimum, because we know that men who stay for six months or longer have the highest rates of success in building fulfilling and happy lives that last.

Recovery is not something people should have to navigate alone. Community collaboration matters.

Candy and cats: two beloved traditions that have shaped life at Prospect House for years. The candy bowl in the office is more than just a treat; it is a symbol of comfort and community, always ready to offer a sweet pick-me-up. For those in early recovery, candy can spark the brain’s pleasure centers, offering a burst of dopamine and a little energy to help ease withdrawal symptoms. And then there are the cats. As long as anyone here can remember, people have been dropping cats off at Prospect House, and local feral cats gather here as well. Thanks to generous sponsors, our feline companions receive care and treatment, while staff and alumni make sure they are well-fed and loved. The presence of these pets can also aid in addiction recovery by helping to reduce stress, ease loneliness, and to foster a sense of purpose in those who help feed them. If you find yourself at Prospect House, be sure to grab a piece of candy and say hello to our cherished cats, including our gentle porch kitty, Miss Tiger.
