We would like to hear from those who attended our Outstanding Public Service Awards (including nominators, nominees, winners, judges, and/or event attendees). As you may know, the American Society for Public Administration's Greater Cincinnati Chapter (ASPA-GCC) brought back the awards program after a four-year hiatus, and we are seeking input to make improvements in 2025.

We'd appreciate getting feedback from participants about the awards program and/or event! Please take 3 minutes to complete this anonymous online survey by Tuesday, December 31: https://bit.ly/OutstandingPublicServiceAwards.

Thank you for your consideration! If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Dr. Julie Olberding at [email protected].

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the 2024 Outstanding Public Service Awards!

We had the privilege of honoring both our 2020 and 2024 award recipients for their incredible contributions to public service. Your dedication and hard work inspire us to strive for excellence in our communities.

Finally, a special thanks to our board members, volunteers, and sponsors who helped make the event such a success.

Today we want to congratulate the 2020 winners of the Outstanding Public Service Awards! This may seem odd -- the four-year gap -- but these individuals and initiatives were selected for awards in early 2020. Unfortunately, an awards event could not be held due to the COVID pandemic, and then the American Society for Public Administration's Greater Cincinnati Chapter (ASPA-GCC) went dormant for few years.

As mentioned before, a group of public-service professionals in our region recently decided to re-energize ASPA-GCC with one focus being to re-launch the awards program. In doing so, the group wanted to give the 2020 winners the recognition they deserve, even though it's been four years and they've experienced changes including new jobs and a retirement. ... They're still outstanding!

The Outstanding Public Service Awards event will celebrate award winners from 2020 and 2024, while creating an opportunity for public-service professionals and students to network across sectors, policy areas, communities, etc. It will take place on Tuesday, October 22, from 6 to 8 pm, at Northwood Cider Company. For additional information and/or to RSVP, please send a message to [email protected].

The American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) is pleased to present a webinar: "A Tale of Two Cities: Two Citiesโ€™ Application of Performance Management", in partnership with its Center for Accountability and Performance.

This free online discussion will examine how two cities have employed performance management techniques. It will take place on Wednesday, October 9, at 1 p.m. EDT.

About the Webinar:

Many cities and municipalities have made the commitment to embark upon the journey toward accountability in the performance of their governance, management and public service responsibilities. The commitment and ex*****on of these responsibilities have taken form in such areas as: budgeting, strategic planning and service delivery, as well as others. We see this activity in cities and towns of all sizes. The leadership that local officials and professional staff have displayed to make these efforts sustainable over time and across administrations is commendable.

This webinar will provide an expert look at the experiences, lessons and hope for sustained accountability and performance in two communities: Chattanooga, Tennessee and Dallas, Texas. In particular, weโ€™ll explore the journeys of the Office of Open Data and Performance Management in Chattanooga and the office of Budget and Management Services in Dallas.

Presenters:

- Daniel Dufour, Director, Open Data and Performance Management, City of Chattanooga
- Toni Samuel, Moderator, Retired, National League of Cities and Board of Directors, Center for Accountability and Performance
- Cecilia Scheu, Assistant Director, City of Dallas, Budget and Management Services

This webinar is free to all who wish to attendโ€”members and nonmembers alike. If you would like to attend please register online at: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/6759318538038260060
