Thank you for your patience, as it has been a while since posting an update. Although Brandon's Foundation has been more quiet due to unexpected challenges, there has been activity and we did award two head and neck cancer research grants in 2025! One was the annual award to the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center for a head and neck cancer pilot research project. The other was awarded to Soma Ghosh, PhD, of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for Dual inhibition of Aurora A and TRIP13 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.

Versatile actor Val Kilmer passed away of pneumonia on April 1st in Los Angeles, California. In 2015 Mr. Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer after noticing a lump in his throat in 2014. He was found to be cancer free after treatment with radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and a procedure on his trachea. However, his health apparently suffered from ongoing side effects of the cancer treatments. Pneumonia is more common among those with a history of treatment for head and neck cancers.

Val Kilmer died of pneumonia on Tuesday, April 1, his daughter Mercedes Kilmer told The New York Times. Kilmer starred in such blockbusters as 'Top Gun' and 'Batman Forever.'
