When students hear “STEM career,” a handful of jobs often come to mind. But STEM career pathways are far broader. This week we're highlighting five careers students may not immediately associate with STEM and the skills behind them.

STEMulating Saturdays give students opportunities to experience STEM beyond the classroom, explore new skills, connect what they're learning to the real world, and discover possibilities for their futures.

Over the next several weeks, we'll be taking you inside the experience and introducing you to some of the students, mentors and professionals who make it possible.

Follow along. We're just getting started.

Some careers do more than achieve success. They create pathways, expand possibilities and leave an impact that extends far beyond one individual. The Gaskins Foundation is honored to recognize Mr. Stephen Hightower with the 2026 STEMmys Lifetime Achievement in STEM Award. A pioneering energy entrepreneur, corporate leader and advocate, Mr. Hightower's career has helped expand innovation, representation and opportunity throughout the American energy sector. His recognition represents exactly what The STEMmys stand for: excellence that creates impact today while opening doors for tomorrow. On September 19, we celebrate a remarkable legacy. Where Excellence Meets Innovation.

This night belongs to the people behind the progress. Those who teach. Mentor. Build. Lead. Innovate. Advocate. Invest. And create space for others to follow. On September 19, The STEMmys will pause to recognize their work and the possibilities it continues to create.
