Helping Survivors when Re-Claiming their Lives

Another year has gone by, and just as a lot has changed during Covid, Families For Families’s (FFF) volunteer opportunities have been downsized, which does not mean that we were idle. Since we cannot go to Cincinnati’s YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter anymore to serve dinners to the residing families or host activities for their kids, we had to find another way to support them: Working closely with the shelter’s housing manager, FFF now provides beds, bedding, a dining table and chairs to the survivors of domestic violence, who are leaving the shelter to live independently. Which does not sound like much, gives the dignity that comes from not sleeping on the floor, the opportunity to eat dinner and do homework while sitting on a real table, and hopefully strength, that comes from the knowledge that others care enough to support you.

As this year comes to a close, we continue to be immensely grateful to our donors, as without their help our mission “to helping women and children rebuild their lives after violence” would not be possible to pursue. Although our current work comes without pictures (to protect the identity and lives of those we help), please know that every single penny is spent on our cause. Thank you for your continued support and we wish you and yours a very Happy Holiday Season and a Blessed and Safe 2023!

Christmas Presents for Shelter Residents

And we did it again!!!! Another year is about to come to an end, and FFF successfully supplied Cincinnati’s Battered Women’s Shelter with items the residents had on Santa’s Wish List. For the 12th year in a row, our volunteers delivered everything from PJs, underwear and socks, to toys and personal hygiene items, for the 70 shelter residents. THANK YOU TO OUR DONORS, without whose generosity and support we could never provide the same support and relief, and THANK YOU TO OUR VOLUNTEERS, who have spent countless hours shopping and wrapping these presents.

FFF wishes you and yours a very Merry Christmas and many Blessings, Health and Love in 2019! With gratitude, your FFF Team

For weeks our "elves" have worked diligently to surprise the families at Cincinnati’s Battered Women’s Shelter. Just last night, FFF volunteers hosted their annual Christmas Party for the residents, Santa brought goodies for the Moms’ and kids, and photographs with Santa will be treasured memories. Soon it will be time to drop off FFF’s Christmas presents – PJs, underwear, socks, bodywash and –lotion as well as a toy for the kids. THANK YOU for making it possible to give these survivors their first “Merry Christmas” within a safe surrounding!

Annual Christmas Party brings Christmas Cheer

We have lost count how many Christmas parties FFF has hosted for the survivors at Cincinnati’s Battered Women’s Shelter by now, but the generosity and involvement of our volunteers never cease to amaze us! Santa was at his best again, while the ladies and children loved having their picture taken with him. Our Holiday craft created the perfect picture frames to go along. Little gifts, music and Christmas carols embraced the spirit of the season and reminded us all to be grateful for safety and warmth.
