Helping Survivors when Re-Claiming their Lives
Another year has gone by, and just as a lot has changed during Covid, Families For Families’s (FFF) volunteer opportunities have been downsized, which does not mean that we were idle. Since we cannot go to Cincinnati’s YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter anymore to serve dinners to the residing families or host activities for their kids, we had to find another way to support them: Working closely with the shelter’s housing manager, FFF now provides beds, bedding, a dining table and chairs to the survivors of domestic violence, who are leaving the shelter to live independently. Which does not sound like much, gives the dignity that comes from not sleeping on the floor, the opportunity to eat dinner and do homework while sitting on a real table, and hopefully strength, that comes from the knowledge that others care enough to support you.
As this year comes to a close, we continue to be immensely grateful to our donors, as without their help our mission “to helping women and children rebuild their lives after violence” would not be possible to pursue. Although our current work comes without pictures (to protect the identity and lives of those we help), please know that every single penny is spent on our cause. Thank you for your continued support and we wish you and yours a very Happy Holiday Season and a Blessed and Safe 2023!
