“So Fresh + So Clean 2026”

What if jewelry could help us imagine a different future?

So Fresh + So Clean 2026 brings together student jewelers, metalsmiths, and interdisciplinary makers thinking through climate, consumption, the body, politics, care, and the materials that surround us.

Rather than asking artists to predict the future, this year's exhibition asks them to imagine it: “What if?”

Over the coming months, we'll be sharing the artists and works that make up this exhibition, and asking some of those questions right alongside them!

First, we will introduce CEJ’s new Executive Director, Marianna Smirnova, and share the latest community news.

Then, we will dive into a feature dialogue with Ada Thela, Founder and CEO of Zoe Diamonds, and Sean Dunn of J.R. Dunn Jewelers, facilitated by CEJ President Brandee Dallow.

They will share the story behind the Two From One collection: two GIA-certified, blockchain-traced diamonds cut from a single rough stone sourced via Botswana’s Okavango Diamond Company, polished at Zoe Diamonds’ 100% Motswana-owned facility in Gaborone, and shipped directly to the U.S.

Finally, we will discuss the possibility of a collective CEJ diamond purchase from Botswana, turning our shared commitment to ethical sourcing into direct action.

Join us for a CEJ Member Town Hall - a conversation about what a responsible and transparent jewelry supply chain looks like when it actually works.

We’ll introduce our new Executive Director, Marianna Smirnova, share upcoming CEJ news, and then turn to the heart of the session: a dialogue with Ada Thela of Zoe Diamonds and Sean Dunn of J.R. Dunn Jewelers, facilitated by CEJ President Brandee Dallow.

Ada Thela is the founder and CEO of Zoe Diamonds, a 100% Motswana-owned cutting and polishing facility in Gaborone. She and Sean connected, sourced rough diamonds through Botswana’s state-owned Okavango Diamond Company, and completed their first direct shipment to the U.S. in December 2025.

The result is the Two From One collection: two GIA-certified, blockchain-traced diamonds cut from a single rough crystal in Gaborone, then set into a pair of rings by J.R. Dunn’s in-house designer in South Florida.

One origin. One rough stone. Two diamonds, two rings.

We’ll also explore the possibility of a collective purchase of diamonds from Botswana, cut by Zoe Diamonds, and putting our shared values into direct action.

🏆 Meet Guest Juror's Choice Awardee, Estyn Hulbert ()!
The pictured work, and more featured in “So Fresh + So Clean 2026”, is what led Guest Juror Mary Hallam Pearse to select Hulbert as this year’s Guest Juror’s Choice Awardee.
Estyn Hulbert's “Sound Hood” (pictured) transforms discarded materials into something unexpectedly intimate: a wearable cocoon that buffers the wearer from the world.

The hood narrows the visual field and alters the wearer's voice, while touching its surface creates sounds reminiscent of rain falling on a tin roof.
Hulbert asks us to reconsider what materials, and what forms of adornment, we understand as precious.
