We have been fighting the staffing battle and we have some wins!

More than 100 nursing positions should be posted or posting soon! (Like today or early next week!)

Travelers are being hired to meet the most urgent staffing needs.

The FIRST round of positions and travelers have been designated for the Medsurg units, specifically the units that have filed the most ADOs. YOU painted the most urgent picture and we were able to leverage the ADOs for staffing—help is on the way.

We understand there will be concerns over the travelers but we need help now. This situation was created by the hospital; poor planning with confidence.

Administration is working on plans to address the rest of the units so KEEP FILING ADOs!!! We need them now and we need them to keep coming in as we climb the hill to negotiations! We cannot stress this enough. We need these for contract!

RNA also uncovered a significant discrepancy with a simple comparison of lists. The hospital has been claiming they have been hiring since January….they were actually referencing internal transfers and nurses that switched position controls!!! This would be any nurse who changed their FTE or switched from nights to days, or moved to another department.

We will keep you updated as we get more info on positions. Also note that ALL traveler positions must be posted as RNA positions per the CBA!

Every nurse that has resigned because they will no longer tolerate unsafe staffing and being tasked with more patients/ less resources is a single nurse exercising their right to withhold their work and demand better conditions and better care for our patients.

Cincinnati has both a protracted and present issue with racism.

Just as biases in healthcare affect the outcomes of marginalized patients, vulnerable community members, especially our Black community members, are significantly impacted by racism in policing.

This is a public health crisis.

Black community members experience disproportionate use of force, more frequent and aggressive enforcement, and significantly more encounters with law enforcement during pedestrian and traffic stops.

•This affects both the physical and mental health of marginalized community members.
•It creates socioeconomic instability at a time when our communities are already stretched; often touching already destabilized neighborhoods first.
•it fractures trust and instills fear.
•The combination of these factors makes our communities less safe.

We need resources invested into public health, healthcare, housing, education, transportation, youth, and our aging populations. These are the social determinants of health that are proven to increase safety and improve the lives of our Cincy communities.

Safety is fostered through meeting the basic, fundamental needs of people. We love this city because we love the people who make it Cincy. We can do better.

Today was a vibe and we had the BEST time! We definitely found an education flow with the 6yr and up age group on normalizing type I diabetes medical devices using Lenny the Lion 🦁

We enjoyed ALL of it: the drum performance, .catering , the dances, the art installations and the ability to sit with the impactful pieces while hiking to the next installation, the thoughtfulness from and for the volunteers, the diversity in the presentations. We can’t thank the organizers enough for including us in such an incredible, thoughtful event. Every single aspect. 🙌

Happy 513 day! We know it’s been difficult for many of our nurses across the hospital. Please continue emailing and cc us on emails to management. Protect your nursing license by filing ADOs. We are pushing unsafe staffing as our number one issue with leadership!

Please take care of your mental and physical health. You cannot sacrifice yourself to address a systemic problem. If you usually take extra shifts, but you need a break or you just don’t want to pick up, you don’t owe anyone an explanation. “No” is a complete sentence.

Reach out if you need support! You have the right to have a union rep during any conversation with management. We can also be your ears if you just need to talk through a problem or situation.

We are outside in the green space across from BCHC behind the ER/FLEX with your 2026 RNA nurses week tshirts until 2000 TODAY!

You can pick up tshirts for other union nurses IF their name is up to date on the member list, otherwise they will have to pick up their own.

If you pick up a shirt for someone, their name will be checked off and they will not be able to get a shirt at a later time, so please make sure they know you are picking up their shirt.

If you’re not able to come today, we will be back or you can arrange to pick yours up at a later time.
