Congratulations, Dr. Manley, and thank you for your compassionate leadership and unwavering commitment to our community. We are proud to recognize your impact and grateful for The Christ Hospital Health Network’s continued partnership in caring for our neighbors most in need. 💙

We’re proud to share that Dr. Mark Manley, Immediate Past President of TCHHN Medical Staff, has been named a recipient of the 2026 Transformation Award by the Center for Respite Care.

Each year, the Center for Respite Care recognizes individuals and organizations making a meaningful impact in our community, particularly in supporting those with the greatest needs. Dr. Manley was selected by unanimous vote—an honor that reflects his compassion, leadership, and continued commitment to care.

This recognition not only celebrates Dr. Manley’s contributions but also highlights the broader impact of The Christ Hospital Health Network in serving our community with purpose and heart.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Liz Bonis, a trusted voice in health journalism and a tireless advocate for community well-being.

Liz served as the longtime medical reporter for WKRC-TV, Local 12 in Cincinnati, where she dedicated her career to translating complex medical information into meaningful, accessible guidance for all. For more than two decades, she used her platform to elevate public health, empower individuals, and spotlight innovations that improve lives.

Liz was a steadfast supporter of the Center for Respite Care. She understood the importance of compassionate, holistic care for those experiencing homelessness and used her voice to champion our mission and the dignity of those we serve.

Liz lived her life in service to others. Her impact on our community, and on organizations like ours, will be felt for years to come. Her legacy reminds us that storytelling can heal, advocacy can save lives, and one voice can truly make a difference.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues, and all who were touched by her work.

We are so grateful to St. Ignatius Parish for their generous support through Project 5000.

Inspired by the Gospel story of multiplying small gifts into something greater, this program brings together community partners to provide essential items for those experiencing homelessness and poverty. Because of this incredible generosity, our clients at the Center for Respite Care will have the basic necessities they need to heal with dignity.

To St. Ignatius and all of our church partners, thank you. Your compassion and commitment make a real difference every single day.

H.R. 1, also known as the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," made significant changes to how states finance their Medicaid programs and added eligibility restrictions such as work requirements and more frequent redeterminations. States dealing with the political and fiscal fallout from the bill might be tempted to respond by pulling back on added services in their Medicaid programs. But doing so could harm broader goals related to cost-effectiveness and reducing burdens on hospitals.

Our new fact sheet describes why states, hospitals, and payors should continue supporting medical respite care programs. Access it here: https://nhchc.org/resource/medical-respite-care-programs-add-value-to-states-hospitals-payors/

At the Center for Respite Care, love looks like a second chance.

It’s the moment someone who has been discharged to the streets instead finds a place to rest, recover, and be seen. It’s the care that surrounds each client and the community that makes it possible.

This Valentine’s Day, thank you for loving your neighbors through action, advocacy, and support. You are the heart of this mission. 💕
