We are absolutely thrilled to be represented by such an outstanding leader who embodies integrity, dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to inclusion and community. Chief Richardson’s inspiring leadership continues to strengthen the bonds between law enforcement and our Special Olympics athletes, reminding us all why we proudly stand side by side in support of these extraordinary individuals.

Special Olympics athletes teach us all about courage, resilience, determination, and the pure joy of sport. By standing together with them, law enforcement helps create a world where every athlete feels valued, included, and empowered to reach their fullest potential. Together, we are building stronger teams, more inclusive communities, lasting friendships, and brighter futures filled with possibility.

Thank you Chief Richardson for leading with such heart, purpose, and passion. We are deeply proud to stand united in support of our Special Olympics athletes and the transformative power of the Special Olympics movement!

🚔 Law Enforcement Lane was a HUGE hit with our athletes!

Agencies from across Kentucky came together to showcase their cruisers, specialty equipment, and the incredible work they do every day. We were proud to host our law enforcement partners and open the doors so our Special Olympics athletes could get an up-close look at their world.

From exploring police vehicles to learning about different aspects of law enforcement, the athletes had a fantastic time! It’s always a joy to give them this special peek behind the scenes.

A big THANK YOU to all the officers and agencies who participated, your support and enthusiasm mean everything to our athletes! 💙

What an incredible day! Friday marked the final leg of the 2026 Kentucky Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

We kicked things off with a brand new leg at the Department of Criminal Justice Training, where recruits proudly carried the Flame of Hope through Richmond. From there, we headed to Frankfort PD, where officers and their families ran strong through downtown.

The energy was electric at Stewart Home & School their choir and ASL class greeted us with beautiful music and heartfelt performances. That stop always fills our hearts.

In Nicholasville, the community showed up big for the Nicholasville PD leg. The leg that provided runners with the biggest hill to climb this year! Thank you, Nicholasville for treating our runners to lunch. They needed it after tackling that leg.

We loved running through downtown Lexington with Lexington PD and UK PD, soaking up all the cheers from the crowd. A special shoutout to UK PD for the motorcycle es**rt that helped us all day, and also to our amazing athlete speaker who fired everyone up to finish the last run!

We wrapped up the day with Richmond PD, joined by local Special Olympics athletes. A parent’s emotional story brought tears to many eyes, a powerful reminder of why we do this. Richmond has been one of our strongest supporters for 12 years, always providing our full day motorcycle es**rt.
From there, the Flame of Hope made its way to Eastern Kentucky University to kick off the opening ceremonies.

Days like this remind us how strong our law enforcement community is when we come together for our Kentucky Special Olympics athletes . Thank you to every agency, officer, family member, and supporter who made today happen! ❤️🔥

🔥 The torch is on the move in Kentucky! 🔥

What an incredible day in Ashland!
Kentucky State Police Post 14 proudly hosted a powerful leg of the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run, joined by our outstanding partners from the Ashland Police Department and the University of Kentucky Police Department.

Officers ran strong through Central Park with the Flame of Hope, showing once again that Kentucky’s law enforcement stands united in support of our Special Olympics athletes!

This leg brings us one step closer to the Special Olympics Kentucky Summer Games in Richmond and tomorrow night, the cauldron will be lit to officially kick off the Games!

Every mile, every step, and every officer who carried the torch is making a real difference in the lives of athletes across the Commonwealth.
