šŸŽ‰ Now Listed in the National Register of Historic Places!

We are excited to celebrate The President Apartments, officially listed in the National Register of Historic Places on August 21, 2026!

Located at Reading Road and Greenwood Avenue in Avondale/North Avondale, The President opened in 1928. A Cincinnati Enquirer advertisement announcing its opening promoted the new building as ā€œan entirely new idea in Completely Furnished Apartments,ā€ offering residents modern amenities and apartment living just minutes from downtown.

Nearly a century later, The President remains an important part of Cincinnati’s residential and architectural history. Its National Register listing recognizes both its historical and architectural significance and its place within the broader story of apartment development in Cincinnati.

Today, The President is owned by the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) and continues to serve the community as affordable housing.

Its listing also demonstrates how preservation and housing can work together. Historic buildings like The President can continue to evolve and serve new generations while retaining the architecture and history that make our neighborhoods distinctive.

From a modern new apartment building in 1928 to affordable housing today, The President has been part of Cincinnati life for nearly 100 years.

Congratulations to The President Apartments on this national recognition!

Preserve. Protect. Celebrate.

DON'T DUMP THE 'NATI!
Bring your unwanted waste items and help keep Cincinnati beautiful!

šŸ“† Friday, July 31
ā° 9AM–1PM
šŸ“ 841 W 6TH ST.

Made possible by presenting sponsors Keep Cincinnati Beautiful (KCB), the City of Cincinnati/Department of Public Services, and The Gorilla Glue Company, Don’t Dump the ā€˜Nati! provides a vital resource for residents by offering a free, centralized drop-off location to dispose of and recycle items that frequently contribute to illegal dumping or end up taking up crucial space in local landfills.

In response to the devastating flash flooding that recently impacted neighborhood residents and local businesses, KCB is expanding capacity for this month’s waste diversion event. By scaling up capacity and staffing for this month's event, KCB is directly answering the immediate call for disaster recovery assistance.

The City has several locations to cool off from the heat and reminds residents to remain vigilant during potentially dangerous weather conditions.

Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) facilities remain open to the public to escape the heat and cool off regardless of membership status. All recreation centers operate as Cooling Centers for the public, free of cost, during regular operating hours. Centers provide a cool place to sit and relax indoors with water for guests.

CRC spraygrounds are free and open to the public 10 AM to 9 PM every day.

Stay safe everyone!
