Dogs will attempt to communicate with us the same way that they communicate with each other.

It is important to be able to recognize the subtle signs of stress or fear so that we can intervene or change the situation.

If intervention does not occur, or the situation continues, the dog learns these subtle attempts of communication are failing, and therefore they must escalate or go up the ladder. Don't let your pup climb the latter, learn body language and be your dog's advocate.
