Widow Program Update: Launching Helen’s New Business

We are so proud to announce the launch of a new business for a widow in our program named Helen! We were able to help her set up her business through purchasing her initial inventory and before launching our program director and social worker took her through comprehensive small business training and financial literacy coaching.

Helen is now selling new and thrifted clothing at a very busy, strategic outdoor market location.

As our director shared with us: “You have restored her dignity!” Watching Helen step into entrepreneurship and financial self-sufficiency is so exciting.

HARVEST UPDATE 75 bags of corn (~15,000lbs!!!)

Our farm staff worked incredibly hard this month processing our maize (corn) harvest. We harvested 75 bags weighing around 200 lbs each!

To put that into perspective: last year we harvested 65 bags. That means God blessed us with 2,000 MORE pounds of corn than last year! Praise the Lord!

Here is how this abundant harvest will be used:

Cutting Food Costs: It will feed the children and families across our programs all year long, slashing our operational food expenses just like it did last year.

Blessing Widows: We are directly giving 15% of the entire harvest to the widows in our program to ensure their households are fed.

Sustaining the Future: The remaining maize will be sold to fund next year’s seed and planting, with any excess profit directly covering additional program expenses!

We made it safety to Kenya! Stay tuned this week for live updates on social media! Thank you to all who have been praying for us!!!

My parents brought me to Kenya for the first time when I was 10 years old, that was 25 years ago this year 🥹 that trip really did change me forever and was the catalyst for all the work we do today. Joe and I have really prioritized bringing our kids around that age and I am so excited for Lucy’s first trip to Kenya!
