A while back, we found this magazine from 1955 (pictured below), in which hope is expressed that a Young Life club would get started in Cincinnati someday. He concludes that "it may be up to us."
That is precisely what happened. It's fun to read that entry and then look at the map of the nearly 100 Young Life clubs in the city today (a map of ministries is pictured below). Cincinnati Young Life has always been strong in local, volunteer leadership. As we begin the school year, there are over 400 people volunteering many hours every week to go into the world of kids and meet them on their turf. And, groups of college freshmen who want to become Young Life leaders are now gathering for Young Life Leader Training at UC, NKU, and Miami.
We are beyond thankful for our volunteer leaders because every kid across Cincinnati deserves to hear about Jesus from a friend who knows them and cares about them. Every kid deserves that. Thank you to all who have led in the past. And to all who volunteer to go into the world of kids this fall - you're the BEST! May God bless you!
