1001 Colors is proud to share Northside’s latest mural, Buoyant Vessel, created in partnership with the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). Designed by Frank Herrmann, the mural honors his work and enduring legacy as an artist, educator, and mentor.

Buoyant Vessel draws inspiration from Herrmann’s research into the ritual practices and visual language of the Asmat people of New Guinea. Featuring carved shields, ceremonial objects, and symbolic motifs, recurring ovoid forms move rhythmically around the building, creating an immersive visual landscape.

A collaboration between 1001 Colors and Paycor, Rooted Connection brings a new public mural to Paycor Headquarters in Downtown Cincinnati.

Designed by Claudio Limon, the mural reflects Paycor’s spirit of “Empowering Leaders” through a dynamic blend of abstraction, organic forms, and visual storytelling.

Drawing inspiration from natural systems, including root networks and mycelium, Rooted Connection explores how strong, interconnected foundations allow individuals and organizations to grow together. Flowing lines and organic forms represent the relationships, communication, and shared purpose that support growth, momentum, connection, and leadership.

Join 1001 Colors and the Herrmann family for a special evening honoring the life and legacy of acclaimed Cincinnati artist, educator, and mentor Frank Herrmann, while celebrating our latest mural, Buoyant Vessel, on Frank’s former studio building in Northside. Immediately following the dedication the evening will continue with an art auction featuring original works donated by artists inspired by Frank's lasting impact.

The 1001 Colors Gallery will be open this Saturday, October 10, from 12–4 p.m.! Stop by to experience Sense of Tomorrow, an official exhibition of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial, The Long View. Led by artist-in-residence HATSUE, the exhibition features original work by ten emerging artists exploring beauty, fulfillment, identity, and possibility through photography, cyanotype, collage, and experimental image-making.

1001 Colors Gallery is open Wednesday-Friday, 12–5 p.m., and Second Saturdays, 12–4 p.m.

From monumental murals to immersive installations, 1001 Colors is proud to be part of BLINK Cincinnati 2026!

We’re inviting festivalgoers to explore our activated mural locations and activations by artists who have worked with 1001 Colors in any and every capacity! Together, these projects showcase how light, technology, and creativity can transform familiar spaces into something entirely new.

Continuing our celebration of , we’re spotlighting our Gallery Program Manager, Karla Batres Gilvin, and her creative and life partner, Bradly Gilvin, the artist duo Batres Gilvin.

Drawing from Karla’s Mexican American heritage and Bradly’s Southern American roots, Batres Gilvin’s work reflects on memory, identity, differences, and the spaces between presence and absence.

Their exhibition, Entre Lo Que Fue y Lo Que Es (Between What Was and What Is), is currently on display at Kennedy Heights Art Center through October 10.

1001 Colors is delighted to invite you to join us on Thursday, October 1, from 5–8 PM at The Well for an evening celebrating the creativity, vision, and leadership of young artists as we showcase the 2026 True Body Summer Apprentice Projects, created in partnership with The Well.

This special event features the premiere of Time Is a Circle, a youth-produced film exhibition developed for the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial, alongside the public unveiling of the Youth Cartography Project, a youth-led mapping initiative exploring what safety, belonging, and connection look like through the eyes of young people.
