In partnership with Meals on Wheels Southwest OH & Northern KY and the Cincinnati Art Museum, ArtWorks welcomed a Senior Artist Cohort to our Creative Campus for a series of art workshops led by Anne Ruth, exploring mixed media practices and outcomes.

We’re delighted to invite you to the Cohort’s one-day exhibition tomorrow, Friday, May 29, from 11:30 am to 1 pm at the Cincinnati Art Museum’s Marek Family Commons, where you can explore their work on display!

ArtWorks is turning 30 and we’re celebrating the only way we know how with color, creativity, and community! Please join us for our In Living Color Block Party on Friday, June 5, 6-9pm at our Creative Campus and Five Points Alley in Walnut Hills! ArtWorks is delighted to present the third Gallery Fellow exhibition of the season, Resilient Roots: Circles of Belonging. Led by artist-in-residence Ximena Flores, Resilient Roots presents the work of seven emerging artists in exploring Latin American cultural beliefs surrounding the cyclical nature of life and death, using eco-conscious assemblage art made from natural and repurposed materials. Through workshops, dialogue, and hands-on creation, Fellows engaged in both art-making and cultural learning, contributing to a final exhibition that showcases individual and collective interpretations of resilience, identity, and interconnectedness with nature.

ArtWorks is delighted to feature internationally renowned artist Saya Woolfalk () as part of ArtDinner: In Living Color, our 30th Anniversary Celebration!

Known for her vibrant, immersive work that blends science fiction, fantasy, and cultural storytelling, Woolfalk creates richly layered worlds that challenge how we imagine identity, community, and possibility. Through multi-year projects like Empathics and ChimaTEK, she explores themes of hybridity, transformation, and utopian futures.

Cincinnati audiences may recognize her work from the ArtWorks mural “Visionary Reality Threshold,” created in partnership with the Contemporary Arts Center. Developed alongside local artists and Youth Apprentices, the mural invites viewers into a series of intricate, portal-like patterns, encouraging reflection and imagination while envisioning new futures.

For one night only, ArtDinner guests will experience an exclusive immersive installation by Woolfalk, a rare opportunity to engage with her work in a dynamic, multidimensional environment.

From Apprentice to Artist, Meet Kyra Watkins ()

As ArtWorks celebrates 30 years of transforming Cincinnati through public art, Kyra Watkins’ journey stands as a powerful example of what that mission makes possible.

A Cincinnati native now based in Portland, Kyra began her artistic path as a 15-year-old ArtWorks Youth Apprentice. What started as a summer opportunity became a life-changing experience, opening her eyes to the possibility of a sustainable career in the arts.

Over the past 16 years, Kyra has grown into a muralist, mentor, and exhibiting artist, while staying rooted in the values that shaped her early experience. Her work, largely figurative and centered on children, reflects a deep commitment to youth empowerment. Through her art, she reminds us that all children are our children, and that showing up for them begins with honoring our own inner child.

At ArtWorks’ ArtDinner: In Living Color, Kyra Watkins will join us as a featured artist for an interview with ArtWorks CEO & Artistic Director Colleen Houston, sharing her creative journey as a ArtWorks Youth Apprentice to professional artist. Join us on Monday, June 1, to celebrate artists like Kyra and the next generation she continues to inspire.
