Dear CPS families, staff and community members,

What does Cincinnati Public Schools’ proposed five-year, 7-mill operating levy mean for the District, schools and property owners? Superintendent Shauna Murphy and Treasurer Michael Gustin will answer questions and discuss the District’s financial outlook at two community town halls this month.

The conversations will cover:

Why CPS needs a levy after balancing this year’s budget

What the proposed levy would fund

What it could cost property owners

What additional reductions CPS would have to consider if the levy does not pass

Why the District needs this levy now

📢 Looking for CPS Property Tax Levy information? Cincinnati Public Schools has a 7-mill operating levy on the November 3 ballot.

What does that mean for our schools, our students and our community? The levy would provide approximately $66.3 million each year to support the District’s operating budget, including staffing, student services, transportation, security, technology and more.

Early voting is underway! Here's everything we've covered this fall:
🏛️ First District Court of Appeals Judge (1 open seat, 6 total judges). Reviews lower court decisions to ensure the law was applied correctly. Judges serve six-year staggered terms.
⚖️ Common Pleas Court Judge (16 judges). Felony criminal cases, civil cases over $15,000, appellate jurisdiction, Grand Jury oversight, and four Specialty Dockets: Drug Court, Reentry Court, Veterans Treatment Court, and Mental Health Court.
👨‍👩‍👧 Domestic Relations Court Judge (1 open seat, 3 judges). Divorce, dissolution of marriage, child custody, child support, and spousal support.
🧒 Juvenile Court Judge (2 judges). Delinquency, juvenile traffic offenses, dependency, abuse and neglect allegations, and custody matters involving minors.
📜 Probate Court Judge (1 judge). Wills, estates, adoption, guardianship, marriage licenses, name changes, and mental health commitments.
🏢 County Commissioner (1 open seat, Board of 3). Approves the annual budget, major expenditures, and supervises the County Administrator.
💰 County Auditor. Chief fiscal officer — property appraisals, county bill payments, and financial oversight.

Thirteen Winton Woods High School students have been selected to showcase their work at the Ohio AI Impact Student Showcase which is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, and in partnership with Intel and the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio Association! 🙌

On October 14, students in Mr. Josh Amstutz and Jen Haller’s CCP Statistics class will travel to Columbus and take their ideas to a statewide stage, sharing their AI projects with educators, industry leaders, and community partners.

The students are currently using AI to create an informative system regarding school spending, the financial data provided on the state report card, and the data that is collected from the Ohio Department of Taxation.

Congratulations, Warriors! We can’t wait to see you showcase what’s possible. 💚💙
