It’s a bittersweet day for the Wirtz family. Today, Charlie graduated from the Perlman Early Childhood Program. 💚

While we could not be more proud of the incredible progress he has made since starting there with their Baby Stars program at just 11 months old, saying goodbye to the therapists and teachers who have loved and supported him so deeply is incredibly emotional for us.

This most recent program (for the past three years) has truly been life changing for our entire family. Charlie was able to attend a preschool-style program while also receiving OT, PT, and speech therapy all in one place. It gave him the support he needed to grow and gave our family something equally valuable… peace of mind, consistency, and respite during seasons when we desperately needed it.

As Charlie heads to kindergarten this fall, we honestly have no idea how we’ll juggle all of the therapies without this amazing program. But what we do know is that Perlman helped give our boy so many of the skills, confidence, and abilities he carries with him into this next chapter.

We will forever be grateful for the love, patience, encouragement, and care that surrounded Charlie every single day.

Not everyone has the privilege to run.
And walking is never “less than.”

For some, every single step is fought for. Earned. Celebrated.

This video? Charlie’s first steps.
Steps that took YEARS of therapy, determination, and resilience.

So when we see messages that suggest walking is something to be “tolerated”… we have to speak up.

Because for so many in the CP community, walking is everything.
And we will celebrate every WALK, run, roll, or stroll that Charlie takes part in.

We finally got to meet the sweet pups from the litter sponsored by Cheering for Charlie.

At just 4 weeks old, these tiny adorable puppies already have such big personalities and an even bigger purpose ahead of them. Knowing they will one day grow into life-changing service dogs makes this moment even more meaningful.

We are so proud to be a small part of their journey and so grateful to for the incredible work they do every single day.

Do you know a teenager who needs service hours—or a young adult who’d love to spend time with some awesome kids?

We’re looking for a few volunteers to hang out with our guests’ children during our event so parents can focus on helping us raise funds for Cheering for Charlie. All parents will remain onsite, and activities will be provided.
