Meet Rochelle Wood, Arts Equity Collective’s Woman of the Year nominee, whose journey reflects courage, faith, and resilience.

“I’m Rochelle Wood and I don’t look like what I’ve been through. I became pregnant at 18, battled depression and suicidal thoughts, endured unhealthy relationships, and faced the challenges of raising 6 kids while often putting myself last. Life tested me in ways I never imagined, but each time I fell, I found the strength through God to get back up and keep going. In 2021, my world changed forever when my son Josiah was taken by gun violence at just 21 years old. Through unimaginable pain, God gave me purpose — to use my voice to support mothers and families navigating grief, trauma, and life’s hardest moments. My story is not just about pain; it’s about faith, resilience, survival, and turning tragedy into purpose.”

Come celebrate Rochelle Wood at the Arts Equity Collective Survivor’s Awards, Ball, Workshop & Fashion Show, happening June 26–27, 2026.

💫 2-day admission is only $10!

We are proud to host a Mental Wellness Event for CPS student-athletes, bringing our community together through sports, support, and awareness.

This event was inspired by the real challenges our students face and is a reminder of how important it is to prioritize mental health—on and off the court.

Activities will include:
• 3v3 Basketball
• Volleyball Games
• Martial Arts Demonstrations
• Scholarship Opportunity
• DJ & Food Trucks

We invite CPS schools, families, and community members to come out, support our student-athletes, and be part of something meaningful.
