Hand in Hand Kenya

Hand in Hand Kenya Hand in Hand Kenya, founded in 2021, works to alleviate poverty and raise awareness about issues facing vulnerable populations in Kenya.

Organized to combat poverty among youth in Kenya and to assist Kenyan organizations in meeting the social, physical, & education needs of vulnerable populations. Currently, we're partnered with the Maisha Girls Safe House and provide funds to support victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking. Our work provides a safe space for these girls to escape the cycle of violence, bring any pregnancies

safely to term, and to study and further their lives regardless of the challenges they face. We're committed to serving the most vulnerable, especially those who fall between the cracks of other organizations. Join us as we walk hand in hand with these youth.

It was quite a day for lifting voices against GBV (gener based violence).

ANNOUNCEMENT! - OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE - Would you like to volunteer for a non-profit that is making changes in the lives of girls who have been abused in Kenya? I am looking for someone to make some changes and additions to our website. We use Squarespace and experience with it is a plus. If you're still in school and need volunteer hours, no problem. You can work on your schedule, however, there are a couple of things that I would love to be updated soon. Check out our website to learn more about the good work we do.
If your interested, Private message me or email me at [email protected]

I brought a few things back with me from Kenya. Check them out. The photos just don't do them justice. Each item has a number next to it, please give me the item number and whether it is a basket, crossbody, or tote bag. I'm sorry, but with my current schedule, I'm not going to be able to mail anything. If you see something you like you can Venmo () the money or bring cash when you pick it up at my house in Union, KY or I might be able to get it to Anderson Township, OH.
ALL funds from sales go to Hand in Hand Kenya. If you have a question about an item, please feel free to message me. If you cannot pickup, I'll try to work with you to get item/s to you. I can also hold it until I see you, but please pay ahead for me to hold it. More detailed descriptions are under each photo. I encourage you to enlarge the photos to see the details of each item.

Polly Kab a supporter of Maisha Girls Safe House has a small plot of land where her house sits in Meru county. She uses every inch for growing the most amazing fruits.
The girls at the house don't often get fruits. She is sending me with quite a variety for the house.
I personally can say they are delicious. Some are at the end of their growing season and some are at the beginning of their's growing session.
Also, don't be fooled by their outside.
Steve, my driver, who took me to Meru helped pick and gather all of these fruits.

You have heard about some of our work at the Maisha Safe "Space." We helped to furnish the only library in the area ith some books and the furniture needed. The Safe Space is located i the Viwandani infomral settlement. (we use to call these areas the "slums".) This is where the poorest of the poor live. There is no running water, electric for the few that can afford it. The safe space allows students to come after school to do homework in a more condusive and supportive area, than their own small, iron sheet home. There are other activities in the safe space, but the home work club is the most consistent. It's an oasis for many families.
Last Friday once again torential rains came through and flooded the area. Families who work hard to just scrape by, lost everything. The flooding hit our safe space. On the ground floor it was up to the middle of the windows. Luckily the library is on the upper floor. Here are some photos & a video. Lots of cleaning to do.

I am looking for a volunteer who knows SquareSpace to do some updates on our website. I would prefer someone that is able to do the writing and the creative part. We are not changing the platform from SquareSpace. I will of course work with you. I don't care age, but competency is the key. If you need volunteer hours, I'll be glad to sign-off on your hours. Or someone can do it just because they want to do good. If you have any questions, please let me know.
