Phil Goyette — a key member of the 1954–55 Cincinnati Mohawks’ Turner Cup championship team and the first head coach in New York Islanders history — has died at age 92.

Goyette led the Mohawks in scoring that season with 41 goals and 51 assists for 92 points in 57 games. He later went on to an NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens, winning Stanley Cup championships in each of his first four seasons, and also played for the New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues.
