Our grants are on HOLD temporarily.

We’ve been busy improving the lives of community cats, and our finances have taken a hit! We’re hitting pause while we regroup.

Some of the faces that we have been lucky enough to have helped over the last few weeks, pictured below.

As a reminder - every case that we take on is a medical case. Every case costs us hundreds or sometimes thousands of dollars. The faces below are a reminder to all of us at CCN of how desperately our little NPO is needed.

Meet our newest case “Scratch”, who came in with a leg wound And……feline lice 😵‍💫🫣. Sure explains why he was scratching!
Scratch has an amazing feeder who trapped him Monday and yesterday he was evaluated with one of our partner vets where he his leg wound and lice were treated, and he was also neutered, combo
Tested, and vaccinated.
He’s recovering for a few days at a board members house until it cools off enough for him to be on crate rest in the feeders garage.

Scratch is also here to let you know that there’s some scammers going around pretending to sell our shirts….. don’t buy them! Only CCN will sell our merch.

Comment on this post to keep it bumped so that more folks know not to pay scammers!

Now that kids are back in school, our social media specialist (hi, Amanda here!) is back in business and ready to share one of our current cases.

Meet Mittens! She may look normal, and she sure is walking around…but this strong girl has a displaced femoral fracture and will be undergoing an amputation next week.

She’s also a Mamma, but her kittens are starting to wean, so it’s time for her to get the care that she needs. Throughout Mittens injury and the pain that she must have endured from it, she has continued to care for her babies 🥺.

The fabulous news is that Mittens finder plans to keep her, and we will be actively looking for rescue intake for her kittens.

Rosie, formerly K8, has been adopted!
A very big thank you to our friends at Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue for intaking this sweet girl once she was healthy enough, the *biggest* thank you to board member Natalie for fostering her as a long term medical case, and much gratitude to our partner vets and staff at Pleasant Ridge Pet Hospital for taking the very best care of her and getting her health to an adoptable status.

Happily ever after, Rosie! Thanks for letting us be a stop on your journey. Congrats to your new family!

Recent CCN case Rosie (FKA K8) is now available for adoption through Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue.

Rosie’s foster says:

Meet Rosie! Rosie's luck began when she received help through Community Cat Network of Cincinnati. When she first came into rescue, she needed some extra care and attention, but as she was nursed back to health, her true personality quickly blossomed. Thank you Pleasant Ridge Pet Hospital for being a big part of her healing journey!

Rosie has proven to be one of the biggest lap cats and cuddle bugs around. If you're looking for a constant companion, she'll happily settle into your lap and stay there as long as you'll let her. She loves snuggling with her people and has the sweetest little vocalizations to let you know she's nearby or ready for some attention. She enjoys being brushed with her long golden brown tabby coat.

One of Rosie's most endearing quirks is her love of perching on your shoulder like a bird. Whether she's supervising your daily activities or simply wanting to be as close as possible, she's perfectly content riding along and taking in the world from her favorite spot. Rosie has overcome a rough start and is now ready to share her endless love with a family of her own. If you're searching for a devoted lap cat with a gentle heart, adorable chatter, and the unique habit of sitting on your shoulder like a feathered companion, Rosie may be the perfect match.

This affectionate girl is healthy, happy, and ready for her forever home. Rosie has been fully vetted through Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue, including a negative FIV/FeLV combo test, microchip, excellent recent bloodwork results, full vaccination series, flea and tick treatment, and deworming. She is currently on a prescription diet to add more fiber into her diet and doing wonderfully on that. Her adoption fee is $60, apply today through: https://www.pfcatrescue.org/adoption-application/

We have some tough news to share about TG, our kitty who had two injured legs.

TG’s injuries were complex, and were requiring 6 more weeks of crate rest, in addition to what he had already completed. His feeder was more than happy to do this, but as it turns out, TG was not. He began showing evidence of self Inflicted wounds, due to the stress of being contained, even with medication to help him relax.

Even after the 6 additional weeks of crate rest, TG’s recovery wasn’t guaranteed - far from it, actually. Given his age and the nature of the injury, we knew it was a long shot, but one we felt he deserved.

When TG began showing signs of stress, we knew it was his way of letting us know he didn’t want to continue being contained - he was done fighting.

Today, with his feeder right by his side, we set TG free from his pain 💔 🌈 .

We’re proud to take the whole picture of each and every case into account when making medical decisions, and thankful that we have a partner vet that does the same. That doesn’t make this decision any less painful. Please hold TG’s feeder Liz in your thoughts as she is heartbroken.

Fly high, TG. We’re sorry your outcome wasn’t better.

It’s time to talk about teeth again!

Dentals are one of the best ways that we can improve quality of life for community cats. We often get applications for cats with mouth issues - their feeders find them drooling, or having difficulty eating. And off to the kitty dentist (also known as one of our wonderful partner vets) they go!

The downside is these dentals are expensive - and that’s because they take a lot of our vets time! X-rays are done, pain medications are given to keep them comfortable after extractions, and of course we require our feeders to hold them after these procedures are done, for the cat’s safety.

We’ve had a lot of dentals lately, including Fluffy, pictured here shortly after his dental (and high as a kite, so excuse the large pupils 👀 😹). Our bank account is feeling the effects of this, and for the time being we are limiting all grants to our $500 limit - something we don’t usually do because we know good vet care is worth it, and we like to see our cases all the way through.

We’re asking for your help today, so that we can continue to provide excellent and thorough vet care for community cats in our area.

Some of our board members showed up in support of (C.A.T.) Cat Adoption Team of Northern Kentucky and Southern Ohio’s fundraiser today, and had the best time!

We love supporting other rescues doing good work in our area, and this fundraiser is such a fun event every year! Thanks to the amazing volunteers of C.A.T. who we know work so hard to make this a success!

Bragging on our very own advisory board member Nicole Kastner.

You won’t find a bigger advocate for community cats than Coly. She presented to Cheviot’s city council with evidence based research about community cats, with a favorable outcome.

Both we and community cats are so lucky to have Coly on our side!
