Cincinnati Permaculture Institute

Cincinnati Permaculture Institute Cincinnati's Permaculture Non-Profit Organization But is simply "sustaining" going to be enough for three, four, or five generations down the road?

The environmental movement has revolutionized the way humans determine their patterns of existence on our planet. Often using the word "sustainable," concerned citizens are finally starting to pressure policy makers to consider options that will meet the population's needs for existence, while preserving enough resources to maintain this level of operation for future generations. Founded on the pr

inciples of Permaculture, CPI offers a different perspective on life than renews the human relationship with than land. CPI proposes a regenerative way of life, where utilizing strategically chosen forces in nature yields an abundance of resources to exceed our needs in the present day. Topics often include perennial forest gardening, natural building techniques, homestead living patterns, and so on. Having originated as a grassroots organization teaching Permaculture Design Courses in homes around the Cincinnati area, This-Land has recently established itself as a formal non-profit organization. Join us in moving forward with the Permaculture ideals by attending our programming to raise awareness. With your help, we can make our regenerative vision for Cincinnati a reality.

So we’ve got the Greenhouse. The (former) Eishaus/Icehouse. And … another house. Question is, what do we call it?

While we are and will remain CPI, we feel that each of the three spaces deserves its own moniker and sense of place, and none moreso than the building at the corner of 8th & Enright, which has borne a lot of names over the years.

Nuestra casa es su casa. Our home is your home. That’s why we want you to have a say in naming it and shaping its new identity.

Per the Permaculture Principle of Cooperation, it’s not a contest, but a collaboration: Submissions and early votes will be collected through June 30, and eligible names will be pooled into a vote for the finalist.

We’ve started the process with some seed ideas that have emerged organically along the way, and welcome you to add yours to the collection! Find out more at our website (link in comments).

Traditional Chinese medicinal plants are growing here at Growing Value Edible Nursery.

This is gotu kola (Centella asiatica), a medicinal herb long valued in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic traditions. Historically, it has been associated with memory, concentration, circulation, nervous system support, skin wellness, and balanced energy.

This low growing plant has been used for generations in teas and wellness preparations, carrying a long history of herbal knowledge behind it.

Plants like these remind us that nurseries can nourish far more than landscapes. We hope to see you soon.
