Cincinnati Permaculture Institute Cincinnati's Permaculture Non-Profit Organization But is simply "sustaining" going to be enough for three, four, or five generations down the road?

The environmental movement has revolutionized the way humans determine their patterns of existence on our planet. Often using the word "sustainable," concerned citizens are finally starting to pressure policy makers to consider options that will meet the population's needs for existence, while preserving enough resources to maintain this level of operation for future generations. Founded on the principles of Permaculture, CPI offers a different perspective on life than renews the human relationship with than land. CPI proposes a regenerative way of life, where utilizing strategically chosen forces in nature yields an abundance of resources to exceed our needs in the present day. Topics often include perennial forest gardening, natural building techniques, homestead living patterns, and so on. Having originated as a grassroots organization teaching Permaculture Design Courses in homes around the Cincinnati area, This-Land has recently established itself as a formal non-profit organization. Join us in moving forward with the Permaculture ideals by attending our programming to raise awareness. With your help, we can make our regenerative vision for Cincinnati a reality.

WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE HOMECOMING PARTY:
🍽 We've taken many steps to make this a low-waste, closed-loop event emphasizing local, renewable, and compostable resources. You can help by bringing reusable utensils, mugs, water bottles or plates/bowls to reduce the consumption of single-use products.

🤹You can also bring something to share in the Untalent Show - and that's open to interpretation! This "open mic" part of the party invites anyone to take the stage for up to 5 minutes (or as little as 5 seconds) to share something special to them.

🪑Most of the available seating is indoors; if you'd like to sit outside more, camping chairs might be a good idea!

FOOD: We're serving a seasonal vegetarian menu of finger foods, small bites, and dessert prepared by .snydr . Coffee, tea, water, kombucha and c***r will be available to drink; alcohol will not be served at this event. While we haven't planned this as a potluck, we would not turn away anyone with a dish to share, or bounty from their garden!

Oooo 🤤 .snyder picked up ingredients today for his Mushroom Nuggets from in preparation for the Block Party: Corner Commons Launch!
What else is on the menu? How about... potato pumpkin tartlets... sourdough bruschetta... sauerkraut/kimchi... roasted root skewers... grain salad... garlic herb focaccia and dipping sauce... apple c***r donuts.... To drink, a signature basil mocktail, kombucha from FERMENTS, water, coffee, tea, and apple c***r. And said he'd bring some myoga ginger for folks to try!

While we didn't plan this as a potluck, we sure won't turn away anyone who brings bounty to add to the table. We just ask that you bring what you need to serve it, and label it with ingredients. Can't wait to feast!

An important note about parking at this Saturday's Homecoming Block Party: Corner Commons Launch! since a few dozen people have RSVPd now!

On-street parking is available along Enright Ave. and W. Eighth St., and along the neighboring residential side streets in each direction. Some of these streets can be pretty narrow, and there is construction on W. Eighth just west of us. Please be mindful of where you park and of any personal items in your car. ENTRY to the party will be through the Big Red Gate on Enright Ave - be sure to stop and get your door prize ticket!

WEATHER looks to be pretty good - around 65-70 and no rain! Sunset should be around 7:30 as the Untalent Show is kicking off. (We hope you're bringing something fun to share...)

This principle reminds us that the elements and functions of a system work better when they're working together, not in isolation. Efficiencies can be found in the overlaps between inputs and outputs across the system, so long as those elements are sufficiently connected and placed.

So what exactly IS an "Untalent Show," anyway?
It’s a permaculture design class tradition! Typically held at the end of an intensive course, it’s an invitation for everyone let their hair down a little and share something of themselves in a no-pressure, all-applause way.

An "untalent" could be anything you’re good at, even just a little bit, or a topic you can speak on with some knowledge… something that takes between 5 seconds and 5 minutes to demonstrate. It's open to interpretation, on purpose!

Permies tend to march to the beat of their own drum, so we hope you’ll take the stage at the Untalent Show at our Homecoming Party next Saturday, October 3 to share what makes you weird and wonderful! Anyone at all is also welcome to bring an instrument because this could easily evolve into an open jam session.
