The Northside 4th of July Parade always includes community groups, area businesses, school bands, and the like, and we look forward to seeing this year's floats!
Registration is now open for the Northside 4th of July Parade! Please follow Northside 4th of July Parade or head to www.northsideparade.com for all the details!
Shown here is the Building Value float in the 2025 parade, made out of elements of the store’s inventory, with Anthony, one of the employees, playing the guitar for the crowd.
The origins of our community parade can be traced back to 4 Jul 1854, when the Sisters of Charity’s Orphanage moved from downtown to its new facility, the St. Joseph Orphanage, in what is now Northside and the current location of Chase Elementary School and McKie Recreational Center. Women and children rode canal boats (up what is now Central Parkway), and the procession beside them was made up of members of the Turners, Oddfellows, Butchers Association, Bricklayers Society, and the Catholic Orphans Society.
The parade became an annual event which, combined with a festival, served as the major fundraiser for the orphanage until 1960, when that facility moved out of the neighborhood. It was reborn as a community event in 1970 and has once again become an annual tradition.
The Northside Fourth of July Parade is sponsored by the Northside Community Council and coordinated by the NCC’s Fourth of July Parade Committee.
The Northside Rock 'N Roll Carnival begins immediately after the parade. It is a production of the Northside Business Association and administered by the NBA’s Events Committee.
