Queen City Book Bank Unlocking our community's potential through literacy. QCBB is an exciting and innovative new approach to the traditional book distribution model.

The QCBB has established a unique online portal to receive, sort and distribute books to the estimated 35,000 Greater Cincinnati students in grades K-6 who lack consistent access to books and reading support materials. Our model will allow designated users (teachers, literacy and early childhood education advocates, program partners and other non-profits) to access the online portal and select books. QCBB will inspire the empowerment of self-selecting books based on interests, background, language and reading levels that is proven to drive sustained reading engagement in young students. In addition to book supply and distribution, the 20,000 square foot physical QCBB space serves as a hub for: tutoring, little free libraries, volunteerism, literacy information and community outreach. Connecting people who want to help with people who can use a little extra help is at the core of the Queen City Book Bank’s work each day.

Hooray for a fantastic Fall Book Giveaway Day yesterday! It filled us with joy to see so many young families and children excited about books, as we were able to distribute over 1,633 books to our community!

Special thanks to local author Alexis Wintrob for distributing copies of her STEM based books about a young girl named Za Za and for leading a fun story time! We are also full of gratitude to our wonderful QCBB volunteers who made this day such a success by helping it run so smoothly. High fives to two of our youngest guests who brought along some of their hard-earned piggy bank money to donate to QCBB – so sweet!

TOMORROW is our Fall Children's Book Giveaway Day! Bring the family to QCBB tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13th anytime between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to shop our used book collection. You can also meet local author Alexis Wintrob as she shares her STEM based books about a young girl named Za Za from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.!

Restock your neighborhood Little Free Library, freshen up your child’s bookshelf, gather some new favorites for the classroom or grab needed books for your community organization – all at no cost to you. We are located near the Gest St. & Dalton Ave Metro bus stop – easy to get to!

Golfing for a cause! QCBB team members Kim McDermott and Emily Morgan were proud to volunteer at the Cincinnati International W**e Festival’s (CIWF) Russ Wiles Memorial Golf Tournament this week.

Founded in 1991, the mission of the CIWF is to raise funds and distribute grants to arts, education, and health and human services charities in our community.

QCBB is honored to be one of the 2026 CIWF beneficiaries and happy to support this tournament fundraiser!

📚 What a fun day at the Cincinnati's School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA)! 🎨

A huge thank you to SCPA, teacher Libby Sillis, and her design students for participating in our QCBB Mural Contest! Inspired by our 2026–2027 signature book, "Thank You, School" by Louise Borden, the mural brings to life the beautiful idea that: “Book love is like a butterfly, it hatches in our hearts and carries us around the world with pictures and words.”

Congratulations to Nyla Reed on her winning design! 🎉 To celebrate we also had a pizza party! 🍕❤️

Thank you BDO Alliance USA! The team was immensely helpful in filling orders for our Curated Book Distribution Program. They pulled and prepped approximately 2,000 books for distribution to 11 schools in our program! They also labeled, counted, and shelved over 250 books that are now available for teachers to choose from for their October book order.

We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming a wonderful group of teachers from the Miami University Early Educators program (Miami University College of Education, Health and Society) to Queen City Book Bank! These early career educators had the opportunity to connect, share experiences, learn from one another, and discover how QCBB’s programs can support educators and their students.

Through our Book Bridge program, we are proud to provide teachers with free books for their students and classroom libraries, helping ensure that more children have access to books they can enjoy and make their own.

A special thank you to Dr. Kelli Rushek, Miami University professor and enthusiastic supporter of QCBB, for coordinating this special visit and for being such an exceptional role model and mentor to these future educators. We are grateful for the opportunity to invest in the next generation of teachers!
