Here's to another generous day Hyde Park Farmers' Market , yeaterday! These wonderful women cheerfully collected, weighed, and recorded 151 lbs of gorgeous produce, all picked up by Last Mile Food Rescue volunteers and taken to La Soupe, Inc. . Thank you, volunteers!!

Thanks to the generous vendors Montgomery Farmers' Market who donated beautiful produce, breads, and baked goods to , today. This was our first big donation day, after a spring that had slowed everything down due to a mixture of cool weather and extra rain. Today, we benefitted from the end of broccoli season and the beginning for squashes!!

Another huge shout-out to Berns Garden Center and Landscaping - esp. Jessica and Lauren, here - for a second huge donation of vegetable plants going to our community gardening community!!! If they hadn't found us, they'd have had to send everything to the dumpster. We're glad it worked out this way! More food for more people!!

Another day and 2 more amazing volunteers who also rocked it! Over 500 lbs of beets and radishes were the result! The response from both when asked why they come out to glean was "because it's fun!" It's definitely our kind of fun!!

Sometimes you don't know if you'll have enough help. We started as 3 (These 2 volunteers ROCK, btw!), and lost 1 early....

Sometimes you don't know if you'll have enough help. We started as 3 (These 2 volunteers ROCK, btw!), and lost 1 early. Then arrived early to pick up - and the driver helped! (He ROCKS, btw!) Syd from also pitched in. (Syd ROCKS!!) In the end, we got 650+ lbs of gorgeous lettuce, and even 51 lbs of radishes!

When you know this locally grown food is making it to tables that wouldn't otherwise see it, you do what you can and it can often work out pretty amazingly!!

Man, it was a hot day at the market today, but that didn't stop the vendors, the shoppers, or us from making the most of...
