A few fun updates for Winn Reading’s 5th birthday celebration! 🎉

Join us at 6 p.m. for a nacho and taco bar, time to catch up with Winn friends and a chance to browse our Bid-N-Baskets. Our program begins at 6:30 p.m. as we celebrate five years of helping young readers grow, featuring special guest author and illustrator Will Hillenbrand! Book purchases and signing will follow.

🎉 Stop scrolling for just a minute! We've got a date for your calendar. 🎉
Winn Reading is turning FIVE, and we want to celebrate with everyone who helped our little nonprofit grow into a not-so-little one.
The details:
📅 Wednesday, October 21
🕕 6:00–8:00 PM
📍 American Legion Post 318 on Clough Pike

Enjoy light snacks, a cash bar, and a visit from author and illustrator Will Hillenbrand! It's free, there's no need to RSVP, and you can come as you are. The evening is planned with grown-ups in mind, but little readers are welcome too.

A huge thanks to our Board Member, Robyn Appino, for leading the session, giving our tutors helpful skills they can use to support students this year and explaining The science of reading, converging evidence of what matters and what works in literacy instruction.

Have you heard about our amazing collaboration with The Potted Palm? It's super easy, and a fun way to get your kids reading! Pop in the Potted Palm to get your Reading Card, read a book or three and then come in and tell them about it! After the sixth book, you win free stuff, like a new book or plant!

If you're old enough, you may remember the Pizza Hut Book It program! Well this is just like it, but with books and plants! Stop by and grab your card this week!

Help us spread the word — Winn Reading is looking for new Literacy Mentors! 📚❤️

As we kick off a new school year and continue growing our program, we need volunteers who can give just one hour a week to read, learn and connect with a student. Best part, no teaching experience is required. We’ll give you the training, tools and support you need to make a difference.

🗒️What you'll need:
— A background check (we’ll cover the cost and help you through the process!)
— Literacy Mentor Training (our next sessions are Sept. 15 and 17)
— A commitment to work with students for one hour each week during the school year

That one hour can mean so much! It can help a child build stronger reading skills, instill greater confidence and grow a positive connection with someone who is cheering them on.

We’re thrilled to be reaching more students this year, but we can only grow with the help of volunteers like you.
