Back in action! After an action-packed summer, our scouts hit the ground running. They dove into planning activities for upcoming meetings, got competitive with some sports, and celebrated all the achievements earned over the summer. The meeting wrapped up with an inspiring speech from our newest Eagle Scout, plus a shoutout to the Philmont crew for completing their trek!

Troop 65 just wrapped up another epic summer camp week at Cherokee Scout Reservation!

New skills learned, dozens of gaga ball matches played, and no shortage of slush puppies consumed — all while surviving the heat dome of 2026!

We’re not stopping there though — we’ll be back for Week 6 in just a few weeks!

Day 0: After a long day of travel, the crew has safely arrived in New Mexico! Tomorrow they begin their trek through the backcountry, marking the start of an unforgettable adventure.

Troop 65 Welcomes Its Newest Eagle Scout!

Tonight, Samuel has earned his Eagle Scout rank, Scouting’s highest achievement!

His commitment to leadership, service, and personal growth exemplifies the values of the Scout oath.

Samuel will next complete a Philmont expedition in a few short weeks.

Troop 65 hit the Nantahala River at the Nantahala Outdoor Center this weekend!

The scouts tackled cold whitewater rapids, had some epic boat battles, and shared the river with trout, thick fog, and a passing coal-powered train.

After drying off, they explored the NOC, shot some hoops, and still weren't done with the water — finishing the day with a free swim at Fontana Lake.

The scouts agreed, this is becoming an annual trip, with bigger rapids on the agenda for next year!

Over the past several weekends, Samuel has been hard at work on his Eagle Scout project, supported by his fellow scouts every step of the way.

He planned, organized, and led the construction of sun shades at Alexander Wilson Elementary — and despite facing some challenges along the way, he pushed through and delivered outstanding results. The finished shades look great, and students will be grateful for the cool relief they provide during the hot months ahead.
