Words and pictures cannot capture the extraordinary adventure Troop 16 experienced at Philmont this past week. Crew 703-N, Trek 12-24 - the most challenging and physically demanding trek Philmont has to offer, pushed this team to new heights.
From sunrise hikes to sunset hikes, early mornings and hiking all day to reach the next camp, this crew embraced every challenge the trails presented, rising to the occasion with unwavering determination and embodying the Scout Oath and Law every step of the way.
Completing a remarkable 167.3 miles on foot, including side hikes, food resupply, and summiting Baldy Mountain and the Tooth of Time, all while carrying packs weighing no less than 52 pounds with water, is a testament to their unrelenting spirit. The phrase 'We all made it' resonates deeply, symbolizing not only the completion of their itinerary but also the unbreakable bonds forged through teamwork, perseverance, and self-discovery.
As they navigated their journey via map and compass, these Scouts drew strength from one another, cultivating faith in themselves and their teammates, and providing support when the journey seemed endless.
Our pride in this exceptional group of young men knows no bounds. We hope this transformative experience has instilled in each of them the unshakeable confidence to tackle any challenge they may encounter, armed with the knowledge that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
