Cicero Firefighters Union Local 717

Today, members of Local 717 faced off against members of Chicago Heights Fire Department Union Local - 711 in a charity golf match!
Each participant donated $20, bringing the total charitable contribution to $400. With both teams competing hard throughout the day, the match remained close and ultimately came down to the final grouping. In the end, Local 717 was able to secure the victory with a final score of 9–6!
Following the win, the members of the Local 717 team elected to donate the $400 to Project Fire Buddies, an incredible organization that brings support and encouragement to children facing serious illnesses.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Local 711 for organizing and hosting this event. We truly appreciate the time and effort that went into putting everything together and creating what we hope will become an annual tradition of friendly competition, brotherhood, and giving back to the community.

Here’s a look at some of the training 3rd Platoon has been conducting over the past several weeks!
Pre-Planning - Crews spent time going throughout the community conducting pre-incident planning and becoming familiar with the layout and characteristics of various buildings. Pre-planning provides firefighters with valuable information before an emergency occurs and helps crews develop effective strategies for operating at a fire.
Ladder Operations - Members reviewed various techniques for deploying and positioning ground ladders, including maneuvering ladders through tight and confined spaces. These skills are essential for providing access, ventilation, and rescue capabilities during emergency operations.
Hose Advancement - Crews worked on advancing hose lines up and down stairwells, with an emphasis on maintaining water flow while advancing and operating in challenging conditions.
Continuous training is essential to maintaining the skills and readiness necessary to serve our community. The members of the 717 remain committed to staying prepared, working together, and being ready to respond when our community needs us most.
