Today we proudly recognize National Women Veterans Recognition Day.

For generations, women have answered our nation's call to serve. From the Revolutionary War and Civil War to the armed forces of today, women have played a vital role in defending our freedoms and supporting our military mission.

June 12 commemorates the signing of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, a landmark law that granted women the right to serve permanently in the regular armed forces and ensured their service would be recognized as that of veterans.

Today, we honor the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of all women who have worn our nation's uniform. Your service helped pave the way for future generations and strengthened our military and our country.
