Believe 31 extends a heartfelt thank-you to the Clay Fire Department for hosting Saturday’s Believe 31 "Washing Away Cancer" Car Wash Sponsored by the Clay Fire Department to benefit our mission.

Thank you to the members and volunteers who gave their time, and to everyone who stopped by, donated, and supported the event. Your generosity helps us support volunteer firefighters, EMS, and auxiliary members battling cancer or other life-threatening illnesses throughout Onondaga, Cortland, Madison, and Oswego Counties.

A special thank you to the The Giving Bean, North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Onondaga County Sheriff's Office and Kevin Romer Photography for capturing and sharing a few photos from the event.

Together, we continue to remind those facing these battles that No One Fights Alone.

On Saturday evening, representatives from Believe 31 made the trip to attend the Believe 271 Pink Tie Gala in support of our friends, brothers, and sisters who continue to make a difference for those battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.

We were honored to stand alongside an organization that shares our commitment to helping members of the fire and emergency services community and their families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

We also thank the Believe 271 team for always being there to answer questions, offer guidance, and assist us along the way. Your friendship and willingness to share your experience have meant so much as Believe 31 continues to grow and carry out its mission.

Congratulations to Believe 271 and everyone who helped make this special evening possible. Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and continued partnership.

Together, we remind those facing these battles that no one fights alone.

Believe 271 has partnered with Lucid Diagnostic
to provide important esophageal cancer screening opportunities for volunteer and career firefighters.

Firefighters face an increased risk of developing certain cancers due to occupational exposures throughout their careers. Whether you are an active firefighter or retired, taking proactive steps to protect your health is just as important as protecting the communities we serve.

🚨 THE STATISTICS ARE CONCERNING:

* 62% higher risk of developing esophageal cancer.
* 39% increased risk of dying from esophageal cancer compared to the general population.

These statistics reinforce the importance of cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection throughout the fire service.

Esophageal cancer can develop without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. Screening may help identify changes that require further medical evaluation before more serious problems develop.

EsoGuard is a non-endoscopic test designed to help identify individuals who may need additional evaluation for esophageal precancerous conditions.
