There are some action items being reviewed by the Town of Cicero tomorrow in the upcoming meeting tomorrow (10/13/26):

- There is no specific mention of which streets or intersections will possibly see a stop sign.

- There is no mention of details regarding electric charging stations that could be possibly placed or whether or not they will be installed.

- Resolutions without much specifics are going to be discussed in the town meetings.

Worth reaching out to Maria Punzo Arias to ask for further details or if she will redirect questions to the lawyers again.

We wanted to highlight some information that deserves some recognition. Cicero made a purchase last month of some "software" from Cellebrite that was purchased and approved.

This piece of technology is used in Israel and against those that support Palestinians, there are some concerns/issues regarding 5th and 4th amendment rights including invasive surveillance on top of the Flock license plate readers and the town's surveillance system in Cicero. There is a lack of transparency with its effectiveness or if it's used for invasive purposes. Cicero has a long track record of harassment that has been documented (concerns are justified).

Cellebrite is a business that is headquartered in Israel and there are other stories of concern from Cellebrite used by other government agencies that need to be acknowledged.

We need to raise awareness and address the matters, Cicero needs to do better.

We wanted to share words from Berwyn activist Luz Chavez who wants to remind folks that the executive order by Mayor Lovero doesn't do enough to address Flock or prevent other agencies from accessing cameras still placed in Berwyn.

Read her message and take action, it's not finished yet.

We have a follow-up with details regarding the executive order:

Highlights to this order:

- the Flock officially ends in 2028

- Employees in Berwyn have been cut off from access, yet ICE can get indirect access

- why is there even a condition to use Flock when camera access should shut off entirely

Responses on this topic are welcome in the comments.
