Mephibosheth Ministries

Mephibosheth Ministries We help people who have developmental disabilities live joyful and meaningful lives anchored in the love of Christ.

We provide positive life experiences that promote learning and growth on spiritual, emotional and physical levels. Mephibosheth Ministries has four core programs:

1. Friends Unlimited Bible Fellowship – Each Tuesday evening, we gather in the sanctuary of Cicero Christian Church for spirited worship, a lesson, and activities.

2. The Way adult day program – On Mondays and Thursdays, our day prog

ram participants engage in a variety of activities designed to help them become the best they can be. We offer opportunities for community service, vocational and social skill building, cooking, gardening, leisure activities, crafts and community outings.

3. Camp Mephibosheth – During one week in July, campers gather at The Ark Christian Ministries for an amazing week of teaching, fellowship and fun!

4. Residential Program - Our goal is to provide housing and support services for independent and semi-independent living.

We are extremely Thankful for the volunteers that take time out of their summer to be Camp Companions at Camp Mephibosheth! Our campers wouldn’t experience Camp in the capacity they do without the selfless dedication of our Companions. Monday we were able to just have a day at the church without any set plans which was great. May was such a busy month with so much planned it felt nice to have a fun day at the church. We haven't been able to bake anything in a while so we decided to do that.

🍎 Saturday was National Applesauce cake day. Applesauce became a popular ingredient in cakes during more difficult times in our history. Now it is just a great ingredient to use to help reduce the amount of sugar you need or to replace other ingredients. They used to even just make cake using flour and applesauce so we did try a cake like that (the light colored one) the texture was pretty gummy, but definitely interesting to try. Then we made a more normal cake with some spices (the darker one). It was pretty good. 😊

We played 20 questions to figure out what we were making. And another round just for fun.

We also took some time to make some cards to give to one of our friends who is unable to come right now to hopefully help cheer her up and let her know we are thinking about her. ❤️

💙 We are overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion after an incredible week at Camp Crossroads VBS at Crossroads Community Church!

This week, Camp Mephibosheth was honored to be chosen as their 2026 VBS Missionary. Megan and Shiloh had the privilege of participating in an exclusive Q&A with the children on Tuesday and joining the closing celebration today.

To witness God working through nearly 190 children and 120 volunteers in support of Camp Mephibosheth and our mission was truly inspiring. Through friendly competitions, generous giving, and some pastors bravely agreeing to take pies to the face if goals were met, Camp Crossroads didn't just reach their fundraising goal—they exceeded it by more than $4,000! 🎉🥧

Every dollar raised will help provide future camp scholarships and create life-changing experiences for individuals with disabilities.

Thank you, Crossroads Community Church and Camp Crossroads VBS, for your incredible generosity, enthusiasm, and belief in our mission. Your support is making a lasting impact, and we are so thankful to be part of what God is doing through your church family.

❤️ We are blessed beyond words.

Only got a couple pictures from today. But this morning we had Zumba and then spent time this afternoon doing some get to know you activities with our new program coordinator Kendra. We played would you rather and also a fun game of trivia. We learned our friends would dominate at trivia they all have different passions and things they love learning about so collectively we knew almost every question.

Since we didn't have many pictures from today I figured it would be a great time to share those pictures from our Mother's Day crafts we did last month that we never got shared. Our friends painted bud vases with Kiln Creations and we decorated little glass bottles and made wooden button bouquets to go in them. 💐

🌱 We’ve been busy — and having a lot of fun — over at Residential!

So far, we’ve built 2 raised garden beds, have 2 more ready to be assembled, added soil, and already planted some vegetables. 🪴🍅

And we’re not done yet — stay tuned for our garden expansion coming in the next couple of weeks!

This is just one example of the fun and meaningful experiences you can have as a DSP while:

* Building relationships
* Engaging in the community
* Empowering the individuals we support to live their best lives

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go to Agape. We talked about boundaries and how so many boundaries we have and want are similar for the horses. Boundaries like not yelling, personal space, not startling us are important for both us and the horses.

We learned about the items needed to help take care of the animals there and had the opportunity to pet, brush, and interact with the horses. Our friends had such a fun day. We are also so thankful again for the RJS Foundation who helped make this and so many of our activities a reality through the year.

We always love visiting, learning about, and connecting with local organizations so if you ever have ideas or know someone we could connect with please let us know.

Sorry for the delayed post, but Thursday we got the opportunity to go to the Anderson Art Museum and do an art workshop. We got to paint a couple watercolor pictures. We talked about sadness and worry and what are ways we can work through those emotions. Our group had great answers and Nick who led our workshop talked us through painting which is a great way to express emotion and do a fun activity.

He had them paint a fun creative picture. They started that one by painting without looking at their paper then he asked them to look and try and picture something in what they painted and expand on that. Then they also made a self portrait and added things that made them happy. It was fun to see everyone's artistic side. 🎨🖌️

🏎️🍿🏁 A day at the races!!! 🏁🥨🏎️

We had such a fun and busy day today. We finished up our derby cars by adding some stickers. We then got to vote on our favorites and had a three way tie.

We had a concession stand for lunch which was so much fun. So many activities; yard games, race car puzzle, hot wheels, Pole Position video game, had a little raffle drawing. Learned lots of fun facts about the Indy 500 and racing. The day flew by.
