A big Thank You to David Off, Waldor Orchids for an informative and entertaining talk on Collecting Orchids Thursday night. A "talk" because Dave's computer presentation could not connect to our projector. But even without the beautiful photos, David grabbed to microphone and launch right into his "presentation"! Not to mention all the beautiful orchids David brought for sale, most of which were quickly scooped up.

Show Table Setup 7:00 pm

Churchville Nature Center, 501 Churchville Lane, Churchville, PA 18966
Following a short Business Meeting, our Speaker, Kim Feddersen of Fair Orchids will present.
"I’m a third-generation orchid enthusiast—some might say orchid-holic—rooted in my father’s orchid nursery, Orkidé Kultur, in Denmark. I grew up working there through high school and college, which laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for orchids and horticulture." Since 2017, Kim has returned to his horticultural roots operating under the name Fair Orchids. "My primary focus is on Vandas, Paphiopedilum, and Cymbidium, though my 2,500 sq. ft. greenhouse houses a wide variety including Cattleyas, Australian Dendrobiums, and more. I also propagate Hoyas and have recently begun breeding Clivia miniata, spurred by the disappearance of a key Chinese producer."
Kim's talks are a mix of practical advice, personal stories, and decades of greenhouse experience. He will also be bringing a fantastic selection of plants for you to purchase — including some of his specialty, Paphiopedilums.
Our meetings are open to the public, and attendees are welcome to join the club at the meeting if they choose.

We’re excited to welcome Sarah Hurdel, owner of Needmore Orchids, as a guest speaker and vendor at this year’s Open House!

Sarah is an artist, orchid exhibitor, blogger, and an accredited judge with the American Orchid Society (AOS). She’s especially known for her outstanding success with Habenaria species and hybrids—growing over 600 orchids under lights in her basement using vertical shelving. Despite not having a greenhouse, her plants have earned numerous AOS awards for flower quality, culture, and exhibit design.

Sarah began her orchid journey in 2002 with a single Habenaria rhodocheila. Since then, her passion has flourished into a nationally recognized pursuit. She speaks to orchid societies across the U.S. and Canada, blending education with humor, photography, and hands-on experience.

She’s also the voice behind Something About Orchids, where she shares practical growing tips and her latest discoveries.

Come hear her speak and browse her fantastic orchid selections during the event!
