🎉 Winter Festival is Almost Here! 🎉

Join us for a fun-filled evening celebrating our school community! Students from every grade level, TK–6, will be performing—please be sure to check the attached performance schedule for your child’s grade time.

Food will be available for purchase from our grade levels and PTO:
🌮 Kindergarten – Nachos
☕ 1st Grade – Hot Chocolate
🍕 3rd Grade – Pizza, soda, and water
🥔 6th Grade – Chips
☕ PTO – Coffee

Enjoy extra fun with our photo booth, face painting, and balloon art! PTO members will receive one free ticket per family for a picture at the Photo Booth, as well as one ticket per child for face painting or balloon art. Non-PTO members may purchase tickets for these activities.

Don’t forget to check out our school spirit gear for sale and support our outside vendors: WTF Waffles, Frutti Mas, and La Buquería Books.

🍂 Thank You for a Wonderful October!
What an amazing month! Thank you to everyone who joined and participated in all of our PTO events — it was such a busy and fun time, and we’re so grateful for our wonderful Muraoka community! 💛

🌯 Chipotle Dine Out
A big thank-you to everyone who came out for our Chipotle Dine Out! Your support helps our PTO continue to fund fun and meaningful activities for our students. ✨

🎬 Family Movie Night Update
Unfortunately, due to the probability and uncertainty of rain next weekend, we’ll need to postpone Family Movie Night. We’re just as disappointed, but we can’t wait to reschedule soon and enjoy a cozy movie night together under the stars! 💫

🇺🇸 Veteran’s & Military Families Celebration
We’re so proud to invite our military-connected families to a special morning celebration!

📅 Friday, November 14th | 7:50–9:00 a.m. | MPR
Join us for “Treats for Our Troops”, a sweet morning honoring our veterans and military families. After breakfast, please stay for our Parade of Heroes, featuring our incredible students.

❤️ Red Ribbon Spirit Week:
Show your spirit each day with themed dress-up days to celebrate being drug free!

💰 Penny Wars Inflatable Teacher Race:
Bring your coins (pennies, nickels, dimes & quarters) to vote for which teacher will race for your grade!

🎃 Trunk or Treat – Thursday, Oct 30 | 4:00–5:30 PM:
Come in costume and enjoy festive trunks decorated by our amazing staff! Candy donations can be dropped off in the front office.

💐 Muraoka Altar de Mu***os:
Turn in labeled photos (student name & teacher) by Oct 30 and visit the altar during Trunk or Treat to honor loved ones.

📚 Literacy Pumpkin Decorating Contest:
All pumpkin submissions are due by October 30th! DEADLINE EXTENDED! Stop by during Trunk or Treat to view the creative entries from our Muraoka students. 🎨🎃

🎭 Halloween Parade – Friday, Oct 31:
This is a student and staff event only. Students should come to school dressed in costume and will walk with their classes to show off their costumes to the school. (Please remember: no masks or weapons.) 👻

🥫 Canned Food Drive:
From Oct 20 – Nov 7, bring in non-perishable food to support Chula Vista families in need. Drop off donations to the bin in front of the school.

❤️ WHO: Chula Vista Families

❤️ WHAT: Non-perishable canned/boxed goods

❤️ WHERE: Large trashcans outside the office

❤️ WHEN: October 20th - November 7th

❤️ WHY: With the food donated each year, the goal is to pack 500 boxes to serve Chula Vista families. The boxes are typically distributed prior to winter break to families who are referred by CVESD schools.

🥫🥫 Suggested Donation Items 🥫🥫

Proteins: Peanut butter, chicken, tuna, spam, chili with meat, dried beans.
Healthy Carbs: Mixed vegetables, carrots, sweet potatoes, soup, canned tomatoes, green beans.
Fruits: Any canned fruit.
Milk: Canned or powdered.
Sauces: Tomato, pasta, gravy, broth.
Pasta/Carbs: Bagged rice, pasta, mac and cheese, stuffing, rice mix, mashed potatoes, canned pasta, peas.

The Chula Vista Welfare Council, who is hosting the drive, is an all-volunteer group, that collaborates with CVESD schools annually for a canned food drive. With the food donated each year, their goal is to pack 500 boxes to serve Chula Vista families. The boxes are typically distributed prior to winter break to families who are referred by CVESD schools.
