The “Live Like Micah” Foundation would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Gus Perez, Claudia Perez, and Gus Perez Jr for their family’s generous donation to the Live Like Micah Foundation!

Growing up playing baseball together, Gus Jr and Micah shared a special bond as teamates and good friends. We all spent many days together traveling for baseball tournaments and games. The memories will last forever, especially Culiacán!

Your support in providing a scholarship specifically for a Hilltop High School student in Micah’s honor means the world to us (Hilltop High School is Gustavo Perez’ alma mater, class of ‘89).

D-Dubs Backyard BBQ is back and better than ever at our 4th Annual “Live Like Micah” Homerun Derby! We are thrilled to have our most loyal vendor joining us once again this year!

On the menu, you can expect a few of
D-Dubs delicious classics, including their famous breakfast sammiches, pulled pork sandwich combo, hot link combo, and hot dog combos. Each combo comes with a side of chips and their signature Muddy Water drink (hot links and hot dogs can be purchased a la carte).

Make sure to stop by D-Dubs booth at the event to fuel up with some mouthwatering eats while enjoying the exciting homerun derby action. We can't wait to see you there!

To All Participants, Parents and Volunteers!

Thank you for participating in the 4th Annual “Live Like Micah” Homerun Derby!

We’re excited to host yet another LLM Event/Fundraiser at Michael J. Martinez field at Eastlake High School! None of this would be possible without your participation and support, especially Coach Ramon Orozco and the Eastlake High School Baseball program!

Since our inaugural year, we have awarded 13 scholarships to students in San Diego who embody the same characteristics as Micah, AUTHENTIC, INCLUSIVE, and KIND. We plan to identify and award 5-6 more scholarships this year! Your participation helps us reach our scholarship goals! The goal for Saturday is to have a competitive, FUN event, and join together as a community!

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the softball homerun derby due to a lack of participants.

But we are excited to announce, we have over 80 participants for tge 2025 LLM Baseball Homerun Derby!

First and foremost, we know many of you may be concerened about the weather. Our LLM team is watching the forecast daily and hourly, which seems to be teetering on the possibility of rain. We remain optimistic that the derby will go on as scheduled. As we all know, Mother Nature has a plan of her own, so we will keep everyone updated from this point forward. We do have a plan B in place, but are hoping we do not have to apply it.

Join us for the 4th annual “Live Like Micah” Baseball Homerun Derby, and featuring our first “Live Like Micah” Softball Homerun Derby! Come on down to Eastlake High School on November 22nd to hit some homers, cheer on your teammates, eat some great food, meet some special guests, and support the Micah Pietila-Wiggs LLM Foundation!

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just looking to have some fun, this event is for you! Show off your skills and compete for the title of Homerun Derby Champion!

Limited spots are available, so make sure to register soon to secure your spot in the derby!

All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the LLM Foundation, which provides scholarships to local students who are kind, authentic, and inclusive.

🌟 It’s scholarship season for the “Live Like Micah” Foundation!✨

The Micah Pietila-Wiggs “LLM” Foundation serves to carry on Micah’s legacy by recognizing and supporting high school seniors who embody the same qualities that made Micah who he was. These students make a positive impact in every setting, whether it be in the classroom, at lunch, at practice, or in their community.

This scholarship recognizes 12th grade students in the Sweetwater Union High School District who are inclusive, authentic, and kindhearted— not because they are earning credit or community service hours— but because they consistently want to bring joy to those around them, the way Micah did.

The Micah Pietila-Wiggs “LLM” Foundation will be awarding four $1500 scholarships, one senior at each of the following campuses: Eastlake High School, Bonita Vista High School, Otay Ranch High School, and Chula Vista High School.

We have a unique process for selecting our recipients. First, teachers, coaches, and staff members from each school nominate students who are kind, authentic, and inclusive. Second, our entire family reviews the nominations and selects 3 finalists from each school. Next, a panel made of friends and family interview the finalists, then a letter is delivered to the recipients at their schools while surrounded by their peers! The scholarships are presented at each school’s senior awards night, and awarded to them at an end of season banquet.

Its a joy for our family to recognize these students in remembrance of our son, brother, nephew grandchild, and friend.
