The New River District - Scouting America serves Scouting in the Counties of Montgomery, Floyd, Pulaski, parts of Giles, and the City of Radford in the Blue Ridge Mountains Council (BRMC). This area includes the counties of Montgomery, Floyd, Pulaski, parts of Giles, and the City of Radford. The district’s mission is to provide the Scouting program to as many New River youth as possible while supp
orting its various youth-serving units and organizations. These units focus on Advancement, District activities, Membership and recruitment, Volunteer recruitment, Fundraising, Adult leader training, Unit service, and community service. The Scouting units in our community include:
Cub Scout Packs: These serve boys and girls in 1st to 5th grades. Scouts BSA Troops: Serving boys and girls aged 11 to 18. Venture Crews: Co-ed youth aged 14 to 20, emphasizing adventure and leadership. Explorer Posts: Primarily for high school-age youth, providing career development opportunities through partnerships with service organizations and businesses.
