Spanish Mustang Rescue and Conservancy

Spanish Mustang Rescue and Conservancy We only have this one beautiful life to live- and so do they. Together, we can make a lasting impact on their future.

At Blue Raven Farms, our nonprofit equine conservation organization is dedicated to safeguarding the critically endangered Spanish Mustangs while promoting emotional intelligence in our interactions with all living beings. Through education and advocacy, we strive to foster a deep understanding of the importance of treating every creature with respect and empathy. Our guiding principle, "Conservat

ion through conversation," reflects our belief that transformative dialogues have the power to shape how we perceive and care for others, leading to tangible social change. With a global population of Spanish Mustangs dwindling to a mere few thousand, we collaborate with existing registries to establish a unified front in our mission to prevent the irreversible loss of these extraordinary horses. We warmly invite the public to visit Blue Raven Farms in Tyner, North Carolina, where we provide open access by appointment. Immerse yourself in the world of Spanish Mustangs, meet these majestic creatures, and join us in our commitment to their preservation.

I’ve been thinking a little bit about the discourse surrounding my latest few posts here on my brand page. And I’d like to come up with some eloquent, flowery quote like I usually post here, but all I keep coming back to is this:

𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝐲’𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.

I’ve spent the last couple of days reading through all the comments on those last two posts—reading equestrians’ stories of bullying and body shaming, watching other equestrians bully and body shame, and it has honestly just made me sad.

The horse world is struggling, and watching women tear one another down when they have never stood a day in the other woman’s shoes isn’t helping. It does nothing but turn people away from the industry. Whether it’s someone new to riding who is still developing their seat and hands and receiving hateful comments, or a woman who simply happens to exist in a larger body.

The horse industry (and the world at large) could benefit from more empathy and more kindness. As is often said, be the change you wish to see.

You never know who is reading the words you are writing to a stranger, or the harm those words may cause. On the flip side, you never know how much encouragement, support, or kindness those same words could bring.

I'm heartweary from the vitriol surrounding Rocking R Ranch and Rescue, Inc. and Rocky. What an incredibly difficult and selfless act of love to say, we know your life will be short but live it fully with us.

Even if you disagree, when did who hits the hardest become goals?

Rescue is HARD, and people are often cruel. Sure, growing up with dreams of helping horses I knew people were mean to animals in unfathomable ways. I was prepared for that. The way people are eager and proud to punish other people was completely unexpected. Seeing how far people who called themselves friends will go to demolish your faith was the hardest lesson of all for me, and so many others. We need to talk about this ugly side of rescue.

Be kind. Do better.

Times are tough and getting harder. We understand.

Before you take that horse to the horse trader for $500, reach out. I am specifically interested in Spanish Mustangs and Marsh/Pine Tackies on the east coast, but will network any horse with other rescues.

Let someone step in before they're sick, hurt, skinny, and confused by the soul sucking auction pipeline. Let rescuers help before the dealer is working with unscrupulous "brokers" to fundraise thousands for your horse that is in danger.

You can stop the cycle.

We still need to raise funds for Whiskinboo, a Registered Marsh Tacky, who has been through 2 auctions & now at KP in 21 days. So far we have only raised $145.60 of the $4,500 price. That leaves us $4,354.40 still to raise, plus raise or work out transport. We are a tiny organization - if you could share our page to bring us a wider network we would greatly appreciate that. ❤️ Whiskinboo is part of a rare endangered breed. Please help us get him out.❤️
